You will typically complete half of your rotation on the Inpatient/Consult Service and the other half on Outpatient Service. The Program Administrator will be sending an email prior to the start of your elective with links to your schedule in Pediatric GI
Inpatient Service:
At 8:00 a.m. on the first day of your rotation, please page the physician on service to arrange your initial meeting place. The physician’s name and pager number can be found in the upper left corner of the weekly block schedule.
Outpatient Service:
You have been assigned to specific clinics. Please refer to the weekly rotation block schedule that corresponds to the week(s) you are with Pediatric GI. This schedule will indicate where and whom you have been scheduled in clinic with. There will be times when no clinics are running. During these times, please contact the doctor on service to see if you can help with inpatient duties, or if you have been assigned to present at Wednesday rounds and your presentation is up-coming, use your time to prepare for this.

Wednesday, Pediatric GI Rounds 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM
You may be expected to present at the Wednesday morning Pediatric GI Rounds; please see the doctor on service regarding your topic. (**Please refer to the above linked schedule to see which day you may have been assigned).
Other teaching sessions/opportunities (not mandatory):
Second Monday of the Month 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Tuesday, Pediatric GI AHD 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Pediatric Academic Half Day Lectures are primarily for our Pediatric GI Residents and Fellows. External Learners may be invited to attend these sessions if their involvement on service allows them to do so.
*Of note: Rounds & Journal Club do not run in the summer months (Jul/Aug)*
Evaluations (Medical Students):
Please send your EPA evaluations through assess.med.ualberta.ca to the preceptors you have worked with during your Peds GI rotation.
Evaluations (Residents):
Initiate and discuss all appropriate EPA's with your scheduled preceptors.
Complete CLA forms at the end of each inpatient week with your preceptors.

Hospital / School Identification:
Please bring your home school ID badges. Temporary ones can be made by Alberta Health Services on your arrival for your elective. (Lost ID badges will cost you a fee of $15.)
Netcare and Connect Care Access:
Access to both Netcare and Connect Care is granted for electives that require it. These should have been checked off on your "In-Coming Elective Form" that was completed when scheduling your elective. You should have been contacted by someone from AHS to grant you access to both.

Transcription Services:
Please ensure that you complete the Dictation form and submit in order to get your speaker code to transcribe consult notes during your time in Peds GI.
Pagers:
Please check with your preceptor/program administrator to be sure that a pager is necessary.
Medical Students: Pagers can be picked up and returned to the Undergraduate Medical Education Office (Katz 1-002)
Residents: Pagers can be picked up and returned to the Postgraduate Medical Education Office (2-76 Zeidler Ledcor Centre).
Lockers:
Lockers are available in the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Research Institute. All of our lockers are assigned. Please contact your program administrator to arrange for a locker number and lock combination either in person or by phone. Use of a locker is at your own risk.
Leave valuables at your own risk. All lockers have been secured with a high security lock, these are the only locks you are permitted for use on your assigned locker, and the locks remain the property of Pediatrics and must not be removed for any reason. Do not "mark" your locker in any way - no stickers, markers, etc.
