I wrote this song as an expression of how I view chronic illness through personal experiences and my time interacting with my PIE mentor. In healthcare we often focus on the chronic illness without getting to see the people they are outside the healthcare setting. For people living with a chronic illness, this is one part of their journey and not the whole of who they are. The chronic illness is second to the overall identity of the person. The song shows this through a main theme which represents the person and two other themes that show challenges in their life between the main theme.
