A common thread - it connects us all. No two individuals experience illness the same way - each traverses their often long and arduous journey uniquely, including navigation of the healthcare system, as moulded by their specific illness context, identity, culture, protectve factors, and more. But what is ubiquitous is the common presence of obstacles and the incredible human ability to continuously surmount and learn from these. Each individual weaves their own thread (representing their illness experience) around countless nails (representing the multitudinous obstacles, setbacks, and triumphs), and while each resulting design (representing their life) will look different, all who experience illness are bound by a common thread.
