Instructed Courses
ENV E 251: Properties of Environmental Engineering Materials
ENV E 251 is a 200-level undergraduate course for Environmental Engineering students that is offered every Winter semesters. This course discusses the materials used for environmental engineering, such as soils, concrete, polymers, and others. Laboratory portion of this course is categorized into two parts: soil and concrete. Soil lab experiments include the index tests required for classification of soil (sieve test, hydrometer test, and Atterberg limits test), and concrete lab experiments include the tests on fresh concrete (slump test and air test) and cured concrete (compressive strength test, rebound hammer test using Schmidt hammer, and ultrasonic test).

CIV E 609: Underground Trenchless Construction
CIV E 609 is a 600-level graduate course for Civil and Environmental Engineering students that is typically offered in Winter semesters. This course discusses about various trenchless construction methods, including Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Cured-in-Place-Pipe, Microtunneling, and Large Diameter Tunneling. First half of the course covers the topics related to design aspects of HDD construction. The second half is typically delivered by guest speakers from trenchless industry and the speakers have share the most recent discussions about trenchless technologies.
Some Feedback from Students
"The main contributions to our learning was the absolute dedication Justin had to providing excellent feedback on marked assignments and labs. Furthermore, any student could simply email him and receive a well-explained, punctual email in return that answered all questions asked, no matter what part of the course you as a student had a question about. In general, he is the most dedicated educator and TA that I have ever seen or heard of at the U of A. Committed to his students and committed to doing his best at all times, in all areas. There has never been a TA of mine that deserved an award or some other form of recognition as much as Justin."
"Justin was super helpful, I found he even did some of the work that was meant for the professor. He was really nice and patient with students, and was open to meeting with students at all times of the day. Overall, a really great TA."
"Justin Park was an outstanding TA. I had emailed many times and he always replied amazingly quickly and with very helpful answers, which I felt was particularly helpful for the lab component of the course."
"I really enjoyed having Justin as a TA! He was really easy to talk to and open to any questions we had. His feedback on our lab reports was clear and comprehensive."
"I found that Justin was very accessible and always gave clear and constructive feedback, he answered questions very effectively and structured the labs in a clear and concise way that made them easy to follow."
"I appreciate the TA being readily available for contact. This was very helpful. I also like when the TA applies what we are learning in the lab to application in the industry; It engages me in the lab presentation."
"One of the greatest TA’s I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with while at the University of Alberta. Justin is so helpful, and would answer any and all questions at any time of day. His feedback was constructive and he always wanted to make our lives easier. Love this guy, absolute beauty!"
"Justin was always willing to help and was very responsive over email. I also really enjoyed that he shared his own professional experiences to help us better understand the material."
"Justin was the best TA I have ever had. He was so kind and respectful. I loved that he had a passion for soils and could share his work experience with us. He made a point to connect our learning content with real world situations. Nothing but love for Justin."
