I am a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta (full appointment official in July 2022), head of the Innovations in Manufacturing, Polymers and Advanced Composite Materials (IMPACT) Lab, and the CTO of ZiprPrint and KryoZesto. My field of expertise is invention, with significant contributions in fields ranging from MEMS, microfabrication and microfluidics, biomimetic materials and gecko-inspired adhesives and more recently to multi-material 3D printing, soft robotics and smart materials and composites.

I have been an instructor or teaching assistant for over ten different courses in both mechanical and electrical engineering in three different programs. I have helped develop and run two courses on polymer MEMS technology while at Simon Fraser University, and have designed and run the graduate course MEC E 662, Introduction to polymer microfabrication at the University of Alberta. I am also a member of the Albertasat cube satellite team as a faculty advisor, where I contributed to the first launched Canadian cube satellite in 2017 as part of the European Union’s QB50 mission.
