Infectious Disease Modeling 

Michael Akoto is a PhD student at the University of Alberta and a member of the Interdisciplinary Lab for Mathematical Ecology & Epidemiology (ILMEE). He holds an MSc in Mathematical Modeling from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, an MSc in Mathematical Science from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), Ghana, and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Ghana.

His research interests lie in mathematical biology, dynamical systems, and the mathematical modeling of biological and epidemiological processes. His previous research focused on mathematical models of multiple sclerosis and pathogen dynamics involving immune cells. At ILMEE, his current work focuses on developing and analyzing mathematical models to better understand biological and epidemiological systems, with an emphasis on using mathematical and computational approaches to address problems in biosciences and public health.
