Hello everyone, my name is Glorious! I am currently in my fourth year of a chemistry honors degree with a minor in psychology. My favourite part of chemistry is how versatile it is; how it is used and applied to various fields. I have done a few years of physical chemistry research, and have had the chance to see how theoretical concepts are used in application.
Outside of chemistry, I enjoy exploring fibre arts, such as crochet, and baking. You could probably also find me walking around exploring campus. Don't hesitate to ask questions, I have probably also asked them!
Hi everyone, I'm Nathanael! I am completing my second year at the University of Alberta. My favorite reaction is the Diels Alder, though Grignard Reagents are a close second. In my free time, I enjoy playing in a string quartet and climbing at the Wilson Center!
Hi! My name is Hudson. I've just finished the final year of my undergraduate degree—with a double major in chemistry and biological sciences. Throughout my degree I have had research experience in neurobiology and toxicology, as well as, more recently, aiding in the synthesis of compounds for PET imaging and in the synthesis of RNA guides for CRISPR gene editing studies. There are so many fascinating questions that chemistry can help answer (which is why I love it)!
I previously volunteered with the ISSS's Mini Study Groups where I helped students get through organic chemistry. I am excited for the opportunity to help support even more students through the IDChem program!
Fun fact about me: I didn't like chemistry at all my first two years at the university and I thought I was no good at it!!! If you feel the same way—come let me change your mind!
Hi, I’m Vaidehi, but you can also call me V! I’m a fourth-year honours biochemistry student and have been doing research in a medicinal and bioconjugate chemistry lab. I love how diverse chemistry is, and believe that with the right support, anyone can find a topic in the chemical and biological sciences that truly interests them. Outside of academics, I spend time volunteering with people and animals; I also enjoy a variety of hobbies including photography, rock climbing, strength training, and cuddling with my lovely cat.
Hi everyone, I’m Chloe! I am a fifth (and final!) year student majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Biological Sciences. I have been conducting research in inorganic materials chemistry over the past year, and I am doing research in a solid-state chemistry lab this year. My favourite part of chemistry is its versatility. I enjoy learning about the unique applications of inorganic chemistry and materials, through industrial applications and unique synthesis techniques. Outside of chemistry, I spend a lot of time reading novels, working out, crocheting, and listening to all kinds of music!
Hi everyone, my name is Snigda! I’m currently in my third year, double majoring in Chemistry and Physics. This past summer, I had the opportunity to conduct research in computational chemistry, which I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a great deal from. I’m fascinated by how chemistry and physics intersect, and I love exploring how physical principles can help explain chemical phenomena.
Outside of academics, I enjoy theatre, reading novels, baking, and volunteering with children through tutoring, mentoring, and science outreach. I’m excited to be part of the IDChem program and to help support other students in their chemistry journeys!
Hello! My name is Zoey, and I’m a 4th year Chemistry major with a minor in Bioinformatics. I first became interested in chemistry because of the fascinating reactions happening all around us, but over time I developed a deeper passion for quantum mechanics. I’m currently conducting research in physical chemistry, which can be challenging at times, but I enjoy pursuing my interests and pushing myself further in my academic journey.
Hi everyone, my name is Jovin, and I'm a third-year Biological Sciences major with a minor in Psychology. I have experience teaching and tutoring various science and non-science courses over the last few years, and I have really enjoyed seeing students succeed! My favourite part about chemistry is how you don't need to memorize everything. Once your fundamental knowledge is solid, you can apply what you know to all kinds of situations and reactions! I know from experience that Chemistry can seem daunting at times, but my goal is to help students build their skills and confidence in general and organic chemistry. Outside of school, I love running, playing soccer and travelling.
