Dear University of Alberta Family Medicine Residents,

On behalf of the PEER Team and the University of Alberta Department of Family Medicine, we wish to welcome you to the upcoming EBM Workshops:

• Urban July 9 & 10, 2025 in ECHA

  • Wed, July 9 (8:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

  • Thu, July 10 (8:40 AM - 3:00 PM)

• Rural August 7 & 8, 2025

  • Thu, Aug 7  (10:00 AM - 5:00 PM)

  • Fri, Aug 8 (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

These interactive and fun workshops will help you navigate (and understand) health care literature. From randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews to confidence intervals and likelihood ratios – you will learn all the EBM you need but were afraid to ask!

• Pre-read the small group sessions papers: 

  • • RCT (BedMed study, JAMA) for day 1

    • Systematic review (Antibiotics for acute appendicitis, Lancet) for day 2

    • Review the questions and be prepared to discuss these papers in your small group sessions. 

• Bring your recent clinical questions: as you will work on (and present) a BEAR during the workshop. 

• Bring your laptop or iPad with ability to search and edit documents.
