About Don Kuiken

Don Kuiken is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Iowa and his PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and book chapters in the areas of dreaming, psychological aesthetics, and phenomenological psychology. His most recent research is concerned with the self-perceptual and aesthetic effects of impactful dreams and expressive literary reading.

Professional Affiliations: International Association for the Study of Dreams; American Society for Aesthetics; International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature (President-elect); International Association of Empirical Aesthetics (Fellow). He is also a Certified Focusing Professional, trained in the concrete form of intensive self-reflection that is the core of Experiential Psychotherapy (Gendlin, 1997).
