What’s new?
A new module on front-of-package labelling - this highly anticipated module covers the purpose, design, and format requirements of Health Canada’s new front-of-package nutrition symbol. It also explains which products are required to display the symbol and exemptions.
Refreshed content – we updated the whole course content to reflect recent regulatory changes, including updates to nutrition claims, % daily values, and more.
Enhanced accessibility – we added integrated image descriptions and captions for improved screen reader compatibility as well as optimized the course for diverse devices.

Academic Success Centre: Maximize your academic success and achieve your goals with professional support from the Academic Success Centre. The centre offers individual advising, group workshops, online courses, and specialized programming year-round to students in all university programs, and at all levels of achievement and study.
Health and Wellness Support for Students: Students who are unsure of the type of support they may need, are concerned about how to access services on campus, or feel like they may need interim support while waiting to access service are encouraged to contact the Wellness Supports Team.
Wellness Supports: The Wellness Supports team engages people on campus by strengthening individual and community mental health and wellbeing, providing support, connection, education and choice.
University Health Centre: Whether you are feeling unwell or it's time for a regular check-up, the physicians and nurses at the University Health Centre are here to help and to answer any questions you have relating to your health care journey. As a member of the UAlberta community, you are welcome to use the UHC as your primary health care facility for the duration of your time at the university. The UHC is open to all staff members, students, and family of students (spouses and children).
Counselling and Clinical Services: Free, confidential services for a range of student mental health concerns.
First Peoples’ House: Provides an environment of empowerment for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) learners to achieve personal and academic growth.
Peer Support Centre: A Students' Union service offers a free, confidential, and non-judgmental place to talk to someone for support. Their trained volunteers offer peer support, crisis management, information, and resources, as well as a safe and confidential place to talk.
Sexual Assault Centre: Provides drop-in crisis intervention support to survivors of sexual violence & their supporters and comprehensive educational workshops.
Financial Support & Advising: Whether you need financial assistance from the start, or you find yourself a little short during the school year, the University of Alberta can provide support for your post-secondary financial needs.
Campus Food Bank: Their supplementary grocery program is to reduce grocery costs by supplying staple food options. Clients are eligible to register for a grocery shopping appointment every two weeks / 14 days. Appointment bookings can be made on our website or by calling or visiting our office location in SUB.

As a Dietitian, Kelsey at Alberta Health Services (AHS), Kelsey focuses on building good habits and addressing the emotions behind eating, she helps build a healthy foundation focused on nutrition and making alternative food choices. Patients work with Registered Dietitians for a host of reasons, and in a rural facility like Barrhead, Kelsey gets to see a full range. From home care to intravenous and tube feeding, Dietitians play a unique role in identifying, diagnosing, treating a broad scope of patient conditions.

At Covenant Health, Registered Dietitians provide nutrition counselling to help patients stay healthy, prevent and manage diseases and recover from illness or surgery. Registered Dietitians will help improve patient's eating patterns. They may also recommend a special diet to help patients manage their condition. Most sessions are one-on-one with the dietitian. In-person, virtual and telephone options are available. They may also offer group sessions where appropriate.
Services may focus on:
digestive conditions (Celiac’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.)
dyslipidemia
food allergies or intolerances
healthy eating during pregnancy
heart failure
hypertension
malnutrition

This Dietetics Specialization is accredited and recognized by the EQual Accreditation Canada and prepares students for eligibility for registration with a provincial dietetics regulatory body.
The Office of the Registrar administers over $28 million each year in scholarships, awards, and financial support for undergraduate students, as well as financial and loan advising. Additional scholarships are also available for specific faculties and programs.
