Registration will open in March for our pre-conference workshop on Community-Engaged Research, delivered by Community-Based Research Canada. Our workshop is aimed at community members, practitioners, advocates, academics and their trainees. A limit of 40 people can attend the workshop, held Sept 26, 2026 from 11am to 2pm. Lunch is included.
More details will be posted by early March, 2026.
Workshop 2: Chinatown Reflections
Registration will open July 2026 for our post-conference workshop. The workshop, Chinatown Reflections, is designed for local stakeholders who wish to reflect on what they learned at our international Chinatown conference. The workshop facilitator will guide participants through an arts-based reflective practice, where we explore our roles in Chinatown and what Chinatown means to stakeholders as a "place" (or a space with meaning). The workshop is also intended as an opportunity to build local networks and provide a setting for local advocates and practitioners to reenergize and engage in reflective self-care. The workshop will be held over two days; attending one or both events is encouraged. Workshop 2 dates are tentatively set for Saturday Ocober 24 and 31, 2026. Art produced by workshop participants will be showcased in a curated exhibit at the City of Edmonton's Prince of Wales Armoury from January to April 2027, encouraging Edmontonians to rethink narratives about Edmonton's Chinatown and to return as visitors to the neighbourhood.
