Welcome to the Castro-Codesal Research Lab! Located at Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, our lab is dedicated to pioneering research that places families at the heart of healthcare improvement. Our primary research areas include family-centered clinical interventions, strategies to reduce healthcare disparities, and support systems for children with complex medical conditions who need home mechanical ventilation. Through close partnerships with healthcare professionals and parents/caregivers, we aim to influence clinical practice and foster inclusive, compassionate care for all families. Read more >
Trusted pediatric tracheostomy information for children and families.
Interested in helping shape pediatric tracheostomy research? Families and caregivers can connect with our team about upcoming opportunities.
We are developing one-page summaries of our published research to make our findings easier for families, caregivers, and the community to understand.
Coming Soon
We are inviting children with tracheostomies and their families to help us create a community photo mosaic that celebrates the children, families, and caregivers who are part of the pediatric tracheostomy community.
Families who participate will receive a $20 gift card as a thank-you for contributing.
To participate, please email your photo and contact information to castroco@ualberta.ca. Our team will follow up with any additional information and consent requirements.
Please only submit photos that you are comfortable sharing as part of the project.
