Welcome to our project on Carrie Derick, Canada's first female professor! This website was completed as a capstone project for our biology undergraduate degree, to research a marginalized biologist from history. We chose to focus on Carrie Derick because of her influence in Canadian history as a female professor, and legacy of founding McGill University's genetics department. In addition to these accomplishments, she was also the first woman to be featured in American Men of Science, and social advocate for women's rights.
