Kate is the administrative assistant for Bridging Divides at the University of Alberta site. Kate has been a lifelong Edmontonian, with a wonderful academic experience in the humanities in Atlantic Canada. Kate returned to the University of Alberta where she began her academic journey with experience in University External Relations, and departmental administrative coordination. Her current role is to provide administrative support, interdepartmental coordination and communication as well as project and event coordination for Bridging Divides.
Kate has a degree in english and creative writing from Mount Allison University. Her areas of expertise are project coordination/management, event planning and team communication.

Shaheena is currently a Program Financial Analyst for the Bridging Divides program at the University of Alberta, bringing over 15 years of accounting experience to her role. She holds a Masters of Commerce in Finance and Accounting from Mumbai University and is in the process of furthering her expertise through a CPA designation, enrolled in a Preparatory Course with CPAWSB.
Throughout her career, Shaheena has been involved in preparing and reviewing financial statements, assisting with year-end taxation, and creating budgets and projections. Shaheena takes pride in her attention to detail and has honed her skills in financial analysis, reconciliations, and problem-solving. Shaheena is passionate about delving into the intricacies of financial challenges and finding effective solutions. With a commitment to continuous learning and a modest approach to her work, Shaheena strives to contribute positively to any financial setting she is part of.

Aysha is a recent graduate of the MacEwan University Professional Communications degree program with a minor in journalism. They currently work as the communications officer for the University of Alberta Bridging Divides team and the Alberta Land Institute.
During their degree, Aysha took a particular interest in research that advocates for disadvantaged communities. Last year, their research “Branding Your Brain: How Internal Branding Creates Unsafe Work Conditions” was published in MacEwan University’s Student eJournal (MUSe). The research examines the concept of internal branding and how internal branding practices impact the mental health an organization's members.
Aysha has experience in communications and marketing in pharmaceutical testing, environmental sciences and in the non-profit sector working with unhoused 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and emerging adults. Aysha is passionate about communications and storytelling as an avenue for enacting positive social change.
