The girls love their group and its weekly activities. It's become an integral part of their lives, allowing them to express themselves and support one another, providing a measure of stability in their difficult lives. They don't want the program to end, and neither do we! But we don't yet have the funding in place to allow it to continue indefinitely.
Our weekly budget for two days comprises food (2 meals for each girl), transportation, and staff costs.
Providing food is essential. By offering a hot meal we ensure that the girls receive adequate nutrition at least twice each week.
Food: $4.08 per person x 17 = $69.36 per week
We also provide transportation money according to how far away girls live, since these fares would otherwise constitute a serious obstacle to their participation. Six girls live further away and so their costs are higher.
Long bus fare: $4.33 x 6 = $25.98
Short bus fare $2.17 x 11 = $23.87
Total bus fare: $49.85 per week
Staff largely volunteer their time, but we do offer a small honorarium to help them.
Staff costs: $20 per week
Total weekly budget: $139.21
UPDATE 3 Dec 2025: We greatly appreciate all the donors for your support! Thanks to you the project has proven its effectiveness, and has become well-established in Kigoma.
However, despite this wonderful impact over the past year, our GoFundMe campaign ultimately proved to be unsustainable, since we could not collect enough monthly donations.
Binti Tucheze's guiding NGO, Love and Hope International, has decided to take over the project, issuing tax receipts under the auspices of The Great Commission, a charity whose purposes are "...the advancement of the Christian faith, the furtherance of education, and the relief of poverty."
If you wish to continue to support Binti Tucheze, you may do so through donations to Love and Hope, which are collected by The Great Commission (who retain a 10% administrative fee). Please refer to Love and Hope's donation page here.
The GoFundMe campaign is now closed.
