BINTI TUCHEZE
"Girls, Let's Dance!"
"Girls, Let's Dance!"
We have established a new performance ensemble, “Binti Tucheze” (Swahili for “Girls, Let’s Dance!”), training members in traditional Indigenous performance. We aim to develop a performing arts intervention to empower 17 female adolescents and young adults in Kigoma (in the west of the country, and one of Tanzania’s poorest regions), supporting their mental health through the joy of creative expression and socialization in collective music, dance, and drama, and helping them to flourish.
Feel free to browse our site, view the range of activities, and get to know the group members who help make Binti Tucheze happen!
Please contact Professor Michael Frishkopf (michaelf@ualberta.ca) if you have any questions, or wish to suggest additional funding sources.
