The Alberta Consortium for Motivation and Emotion (ACME) was established in 2011 as a place to study how motivation and emotions influence people in achievement settings such as school, sports, or therapy.Â
The vision of ACME is to advance high quality research related to motivation and emotions in a supportive and collaborative way. We believe this is best done with strong research methods, creativity, humility to grow, and lots of coffee and laughter. To do this, members are expected to attend meetings, engage in projects beyond their thesis, ask questions, take feedback, and show professionalism in all aspects.
We work primarily from the following theoretical frameworks:
achievement goal theory
mindset theory
attribution theory
control value theory of emotions
self-determination theory
self-efficacy
