The Alberta Brain and Cognitive Development Lab (ABCD Lab), led by child research psychologist Sandra Wiebe, Ph.D., conducts research to learn about how children develop the ability to learn, remember, solve problems, and control their behaviour and emotions. In our studies, we have children and their parents participate in fun, game-like tasks that involve finding hidden toys and treats and playing on the computer. Some studies take place through virtual meetings, while others take place in our lab at the University of Alberta campus. In some studies, we also record brainwaves to look at children's brain development.
If you and your child participate in a study, your child will receive a small toy or a book and we will cover your parking if you visit the lab. For some studies you may also be be compensated for your time.
Currently we are conducting several studies of child development in 2.5 to 5-year old children. If you are interested in participating or want to learn more, please e-mail us or fill out this Google Form below.
