Supported by the European Universities initiative of the Erasmus+ programme, UNIgreen is a thematic Alliance of eight Higher Education Institutions with a specific focus on the topics of Sustainable Agriculture, Green Biotechnology and Environmental and Life Sciences, which are pivotal areas of expertise for achieving a resource-efficient, circular, digitized and climate neutral economy by 2050.
The Green European University aspires to be the leading European University in the fields of Sustainable Agriculture, Green Biotechnology, and Environmental and Life Sciences, where students and the entire academic community develop the values, attitudes, knowledge, skills and competences to become agents for the transition towards a climate-neutral and resource-efficient economy, supported by an ecosystem that connects education, research, innovation and society.
The event, taking place from the 23rd to the 25th of October at the University of Almeria, is the first of a series of annual meetings of the UNIgreen Joint International Centre, which is the UNIgreen operational body.
More than 100 professors and technical and administrative staff and other Alliance’s stakeholders involved in the implementation of the UNIgreen European University will have the opportunity to hold joint meetings for three days to get a detailed overview of the work being done in each work package, share results and discuss and plan the future of the Alliance .
The first JIC Annual Working Meeting will consist of:
Plenary sessions to work on cross-sectional topics concerning all Work Packages,
Separate Unit sessions and
Inter-WP sessions led by WP coordinators and Co-Coordinators.

The event will be of great importance in planning to achieve the Alliance's Annual Work Plan and, even more importantly, will help build teams and strengthen ties among the staff of eight institutions members of UNIgreen.
This meeting is one of the steps to build the Green European University of the Future in Sustainable Agriculture, Green Biotechnology, and Environmental and Life Sciences .
