Want FREE data analysis and analytical solutions for your organization?
Every Spring semester (January to May), Dr. Abdullah Yildizbasi and Dr. Hieu Pham lead a class of graduate-level data analytics students as they focus on solving a diverse variety of real-world business problems for your organization.
About Dr. Yildizbasi
Dr. Yildizbasi earned his Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Syracuse University and his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Closed-Loop Supply Chain Management. He later served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Assistant Teaching Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) from 2021 to 2025, before joining the University of Alabama in Huntsville as a Clinical Associate Professor in Management Science. With over a decade of international academic and consulting experience, he has taught courses in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Prescriptive Analytics, Materials Management, and Stochastic Modeling.
Dr. Yildizbasi’s research is transdisciplinary, residing at the intersection of supply chain management, digitalization, and sustainability. His work explores the integration of blockchain technology into supply chains to enhance transparency, security, and safety while supporting circular economy practices. He has published in leading journals such as the Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources, Conservation & Recycling, and Business Strategy and the Environment. His teaching emphasizes dynamic engagement and real-world application, blending modern technologies, simulations, and interactive learning environments to prepare students for the evolving challenges of global supply chains.
About Dr. Pham
Dr. Pham received his PhD from Iowa State University in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Computational Optimization and Data Analytics. He brings his expertise in data science to the classroom to help students learn key skills needed for today's society. Before joining the University of Alabama in Huntsville as an Assistant Professor of Management Science, he held positions as a Data Scientist, Research Data Scientist, and Machine Learning Engineer at Omni Analytics Group and Syngenta Group.
His research expertise is designing advanced analytical solutions through the development of cutting-edge, scalable algorithms. He has published numerous research papers in leading machine learning and artificial intelligence journals.
In addition to academia, Dr. Pham also provides consulting expertise for businesses in the area of data analytics, data mining, and cloud computing.
What Our Past Partners Have Said
"We allocated an R&D-type project to the UAH team and they came up with a novel way to solve our problem. We were able to implement one of their solutions to improve our in-house algorithm."
- Owen Franklin, CEO, Blue Summit Supplies
"Having access to students on the forefront of data analytics has helped us analyze and market the Huntsville community in ways we may not have thought about previously."
- Ken Smith, Senior Director of Research & Information Services, Huntsville/Madison County Chamber
Project Description
Each project has three stages of design:
Problem Definition
Current State Analysis
Future State Collaborative Design and Delivery
Students teams (three to four students) perform in-depth quantitative analysis and design throughout the entire project. This may include on-site or virtual involvement to ensure success, as needed. By the end of the project, the student team will submit their business recommendation, impact, and any other deliverable requested by the sponsoring organization.
We look for projects that will make an impact on your organization. Projects can be in the areas of data mining, statistical analysis, dashboarding, data visualizations, predictive modeling, customer segmentations, recommender systems, natural language processing, text mining, database design, or anything else data-centric!
