Pottery is poetry of the visual and tactile arts. amh

I always loved playing in mud as a child. I used to take my Easy Bake® toys out of doors and made mud pies and cakes. As an adult I am still all about the clay.

My formal pottery lessons began in 1984 at the Mesa Arts Center in Arizona. At that time, the facility was operated by the Mesa Parks and Recreation Department but has now grown as the Mesa Arts Center. I am proud that they have continued using traditional Native American pottery methods for handbuilding, as well as working with kick-wheels and electric wheels for throwing methods.

In 1999 my family moved to Madison, AL where I met fellow potters at Pottery By You owned by Jule Corron. Although the front of the shop was reserved for paint your own pottery parties, the back of the shop had a complete pottery studio and offered lessons under the direction of Jule and Ned Corron and Master Potter Yong Rhee (Korean pottery methods). So once again I entered into a student role.

For the last ten years I have been working predominantly from my own studio in Madison. My current project is creating bowls, bottles and baskets for Ben - my son -in-law as shown on the project page.
