Colloquium Doctum

As of 2019, the University of Aruba offers three academic bachelor programs in sciences: BSc. Environmental Engineering; BSc. Data Sciences and Information Sciences and the BSc. Technology & Engineering. These three are part of the so called SISSTEM-program, Sustainable Island Solutions through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Students with a VWO background, sciences track, can access these programs without further qualifications; students without sciences track or with a HAVO background can opt to continue in the Academic Foundation Year with sciences track in order to gain access.

The goal of the university is to make these studies accessible to as many candidates as possible with a solid background in sciences. For this reason, a so called colloquium doctum exam will be organized every year to facilitate entry to the program for students that do not meet the formal entry requirements. In the second week of May, the University of Aruba will organize four entry exams: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for candidates of 21 years and older. Successful completion of these four exams guarantees admission to the SISSTEM programs.
