You may have already heard or received your card, however, I just wanted to reach out about the P-EBT cards that are coming in the mail. Firstly, it looks like junk mail in a plain white envelope addressed directly to your child and is coming from a PO box in Texas. It is preloaded with I believe $500 to be used on food anywhere snap/ebt is accepted. You should all be getting one for each child you have at Stratton. I don't know all the details but I am looking into it if you have any questions!

Hello Families,

The weather the last few days has been amazing and I love to hear about the kids getting outside and playing, riding bikes, and visiting parks. 😎Today, however, was very tough.😑 Students were unfocused, playing with siblings and pets, playing with toys or outside, getting up and leaving, turning off their camera, acting like they don't know their way around google classroom, wonders, and enVision, or just plain ignoring the teacher. 😲

I know we all want to get outside 🌳and soak up the sunshine 🌞and fresh air, I really want to too, however, we have just over 30 school days📅 left, with 2.5 hours⏰ a day of instruction and another 2.5 hours students are expected to complete "homework" assignments and class projects, on their own and with a little help from their family if needed.

I am worried about some of my 2nd-grade friends and their academics. Many of my students are not working to their full potential, they are not taking assessments seriously and guessing answers, not even trying to work the problems, 🙄It shows in their grades. Some have checked out altogether, logging in late to Zoom class, turning off their cameras, then walking away and I have students falling asleep on Zoom. Many students are not completing homework, including math book pages, Wonders, Xtramath, and Edmentum. 😤We have a class projects we are working on for our end-of-the-quarter showcase and only a handful of students completed the task today. How do we continue to teach the next step when 3/4 of the class is not prepared?🤷‍♀️

Time was wasted today, precious time. Time we can't get back, our time together in second grade is numbered. ⏳Multiplication kicks off 3rd-grade math, and I have students still struggling with single-digit addition, just check out Xtramath, students should at least have addition down ➕and be working on subtraction ➖. Small group reading has been lost in the shuffle this year, all of our reading lessons have been whole group and through writing/typing. ✍

Some students just don't seem to care, but I can say without a doubt 3rd grade is not going to be any easier, school is not easy! 😒With or without the pandemic, the spectrum of students ready😁, students who work hard🤔, and students who are checked out or don't care 🤪is very, very apparent. I can only do so much in 2.5 hours in-person and on a screen. Students need to do some work too.💪

Please talk with your students, look at google classroom, wonders, and enVision together. ✔Talk about it. Where is your student's head? In the clouds 🌧or grounded on Earth🌎? I am very worried and concerned, especially after today. 😟

We have materials and math tools we need to distribute to students. As we return to the hybrid in-person/virtual learning model next week, the school buses will no longer deliver student materials after Friday. We would like to use the school bus service this week to disrupt materials. If you have not done so already, please fill out the form below by clicking on your teacher's name. We must have addresses before Thursday, to get them into the driver's hands.

Good Morning Families! Just a reminder that the student's first day back is Wednesday the 6th.

We will have both the AM and the PM session on Wednesday. Am-7:50 am-10:20 am & PM- 11:35 am-2:05pm.

We have created a new 2nd semester Google Classroom to help with how long it was taking to load Google Classroom at the end of 1st semester. All parents and students have been invited to join this new Google Classroom while the 1st semester classroom as been archived. New Year, New Google Classroom!

Good evening Families,

We hope everyone has had a nice weekend. By now, we are sure everyone has heard the sad news. Starting Monday, November 16th, Unit 4 schools will return to full remote learning until January 5, 2021

At this time, this is what our schedule will looks like:

Monday- ALL Students Virtual Learning from 11:35 AM - 2:05 PM

Tuesday-Friday-

AM class will be reserved for student who have attended in-person: 7:50 AM -10:20 AM

PM class will be reserved for students who have been attending virtually (No Changes): 11:35 AM-2:05 PM

This schedule will continue through Thanksgiving break, upon our return from this break there may be changes. We will keep you posted and provide information as soon as we can.

Last Friday, November 13th, we sent home books and papers with the in-person students who attended class. If your child was absent, please contact your teacher ASAP, to get those items back in your child's hands.

We really hope this clarifies when your child should log in for virtual learning. We know this is not ideal and we are truly as sad as everyone else in this decision. We know this is hard on everyone and we will do our best to continue to support all of our students and families.

We do apologize for the quick notice on all this and we are here for you. Please give your child a big hug from all of us and tell them hello and that we miss them.

We will post new morning AM sessions in the google stream tomorrow, so please be on the lookout.
