How it works

2-Step Verification protects your account with something you know (your password) and something you have (your phone or Security Key). This will protect your account even if someone knows your password. It will look like this:

You'll enter your password. Whenever you sign in to Google, you'll enter your password as usual.
A code will be sent to your phone via text, voice call, or our mobile app.
This code will need to be entered to complete the sign-in process.
