2/18/26 We practiced some reading fleuncy and enjoyed some picture books. Then we read them to our little buddies. It was great!
1/15/26 We have started to practice reading non fiction and putting an author's words into our own. Here is an article we read recently about rubber ducks. And another article about goats in a tree!
It was a busy week with assessments, but we had some fun too! We played outside after testing, and had the U32 music students visit for an assembly.
12/18/25 Mrs. Gannon was our sub the other day while I attended a meeting. She led the class in an engineering challenge. Students were tasked with making a vehicle that could travel the farthest. I came back from my meeting with students excited to tell me about their project. Check out some photos of their work!
It's like a car boat!
12/2/25 Happy December! We've been learning about ecosystems using the Mystery Science materials. We played a food chain game to help us understand how living things are connected.
11/21/25 We had TWO buddy time sessions this week. Here are some photos from Gifts or Giving and when we made thank you cards. Happy November break!

Making crafts during Gifts for Giving time
11/14/25 We had a paper airplane challenge! Here are some photos from our adventures!
Making paper airplanes!
Buddy Time! We made colorful pumpkins together
Happy October! We've used our inferencing skills to start writing poetry. So far we've written I AM poems, acrostics, list poems, and poems using personification. I can't wait to show you at conference time all our hard work!
We've also been practicing figurative language. Below is a list of examples of similes and metaphors. The class watched this video (also below) to help them. Beware it's an earworm!
Additionally we learned about about alliteration, onomatopoeia, and personification. Check out my example of some sound related pop art. And we watched the Zootopia trailer for some personification ideas. What a good movie by the way!
9/27 We've been continuing our learning about inferencing, or reading between the lines. Check us out working hard on this skill with partners
The formula is: Text clues + Background Knowledge = Inferencing/Drawing Conclusions
We've also been graphic designers in training during our tech class. I won't say any more, as we want our final project to be a surprise for Open House. Remember Open House is Wednesday October 8th from 5:30-6:15 PM
And we had our first buddy time! Our little buddies are Mrs. Heather's pre K class. We had a blast playing outside!
9/19 Here are some things we've been up to:
We had a team building exercise in which one partner could see the shapes, but not touch them. The other partner could touch the shape blocks, but not see the final design. A true challenge in effective communication and perseverance!
Today we started to practice inferencing. The formula for an inference is: use the text clues, add your background knowledge, and then draw a conclusion. We looked at images from this website for a chalk talk. It was very engaging work!
