My 7th grade ELA students use Kidblog.org as a blogging platform throughout the entire year. Students will share their writing and receive feedback from their peers on a variety of topics. Year-round students will publish narratives, research essays, reading responses, share their passions, and so much more!
Blogging has several powerful benefits that can directly benefit our students. In a world where anyone can have a voice on the internet, student blogging provides an opportunity for me to teach students how to use this powerful medium to share their voice in a meaningful way. Blogging also allows for collaboration which creates a culture that values every student’s strengths and an environment that everyone can learn from another. Parents and family members are encouraged to check into the student blogs. While you visit your child's blog, please leave them a comment. This authentic audience to their writing encourages and motivates them to publish their absolute best work!
I teach three ELA blocks, and I've included the link to their class blogs. Enjoy!
