We found surveys to be less helpful than interviews in terms of giving us feedback on what to include on our website. Insights we gathered from the surveys tended to be more general than the insights we gathered from the interviews. We also weren't able to ask survey respondents to elaborate on their responses to the survey questions, so it was difficult to understand the thought processes behind their answers.

7 people were interviewed in our need finding process so far. Along with the interview we had them go through a site that is out for reporting AAPI bias and hate reports stopAAPIhate.org. We had try to report an incident on the site. We asked them questions during the process and had follow up questions that are listed above.
Common Themes in the Interviews:
Current Methods of Reporting: Police and Social Media (Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram)
Things for more ease of reporting: More accessible on different platforms. A trend or website specific for AAPI hate and bias.
What can help stop AAPI hate: More awareness, awareness of how much AAPI bias is not reported and the impacts of underreporting
Features that should be added: Deeper database of reports, local list of businesses that have been reported AAPI bias, Facts about the importance of reporting on the sight, one page to input responses.
What surveyors don't want: Be asked for their personal information, sign up for the site, sign up for the newsletter
