Implicit bias is something that happens to real people in real spaces all the time. But we can’t see it. Since, AR allows us to overlay virtual objects in real environments. We can leverage that to make more salient the various ways in which people experience bias! This allows us to maintain the idea that implicit bias is rooted in real spaces that a person may interact with on a daily basis.
AR is also a more accessible, portable technology that requires lesser hardware than VR. This means that it is more easily scalable and does not require a huge cost of installation. We want to make the experience as frictionless as possible for our users so that there is no frustration involved leading to unintended negative consequences.
