Knowing math facts is helpful as students work with larger numbers and more complex math. Students are more apt to learn quick, flexible, and efficient strategies for finding a fact if they develop a deep understanding of numbers and their relationships. This “number sense” comes from working with and exploring numbers. We hope this information helps you engage meaningfully with your child’s growing understanding of numbers and fact development. Fluently add and subtract within 5 (e.g., 2+3)
Fluently add and subtract within 10 (e.g., 4+6)
Fluently add and subtract within 20. Know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers. (e.g., 5+6, 7+8)
Fluently multiply and divide within 100. Know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers (e.g., 7x8)
