If you're reading this right now, you've successfully logged on to my BUSBTC Portfolio. As you may already know, my name is Kayla Howard. Currently, I am a Senior at Boise State University. My major and focus of study is English with and emphasis in Creative Writing. Additionally, I am studying Business Foundations through the Business Bridge to Career certificate program.

After much deliberation and more than a few self-induced headaches, I've decided to pursue a career in publishing and editing. As much as I enjoy writing, I thrive on helping others hone their own skills. For the past two years, I've worked in the Boise State University Writing Center as a writing consultant. One of my favorite aspects of consultant work is holding brainstorming discussions with student writers. It's so exciting when the writer and I start to bounce ideas off each other and brainstorm how to develop their writing. Their passion for writing is contagious and it motivates me to continue developing my own skills and style.

Although my reasons for pursuing a certificate in Business are very practical, my investment in this discipline is not solely based on logic. If that were the case, I wouldn't have made it this far. I'm pursuing an education in Business because I'm inspired by individuals in the industry. Two individuals with an especially powerful impact on me are my father and grandfather. My grandfather was one of the original co-owners of an electrical engineering and construction company, a legacy which my father is continuing. Their dedication to hard work and efficiency motivates me to become equally savvy and successful in the business world.
