This week on monday we talked with Mr. Rojas about what model we want to cut for the printer cart and we ended up chosing Mr. Rojas's idea. On Tuesday he cut a couple of pieces for us and we put them together using nails but we didn't like the end result so we are going to pull the nails and put in screws on Wednesday. Wednesday we put the screws in and Mr. Rojas showed us how to pre drill the holes for the screw. Thursday and Friday I was out on fild trips but thruday morning I went in and put some more pieces together.
This week on monday I kept working on creating the G code in fusion and made some pretty good progress. Tuesday and Wednesday we had no school due to ACT testing. Thursday I finished creating the G code now it is time to move it over to the CNC machine and get all the pieces cut. I was not here on Friday due to a field trip. Monday I will try and get the curved pieces cut first so I have that done and the rest should be easy to cut and put together.
On monday I tried to start generating the G code for the CNC machine but I was under the impression that it needed to be a component to create it, so I tried to figure that out. On Tusday Mr. Rojas showed me how to create set ups and put in the 2D contor I need. Wednesday and Thursday I made the top, bottom, and left/middle/right walls G codes. On friday I struggled to make new set ups and started on the other side walls.
On Monday we visualised the build of the paper orginazer on the gray cabinets. On Tuesday we kept working on our model for the organizer. On Wednesday we put the predrill holes on our model and were about to start generating the G code for the CNC machine. On Thursday Mr. Rojas wanted us to make a portable stand for the B-size printer with the B-sized paper organized on the bottom. Friday I modeled the stand and organizer for the printer.
On monday we kept making progress on our models and thinking of other solutions to orginaze the paper. On Tuesday we had no school and Wednesday I helped james make a small bit of his project because he needed help holding something. Thursday we meet with Mr. Rojas to talk about our models and when we should start CNC the parts. Friday I made the adjustments he told me to make to my model and I would like to talk to him on Monday to see if it is good to start physically building.
On Monday I finished up the paper organizer for the grey cabinets. Tuesday Mr. Rojas wants us to put the paper underneath a table so we took measurements of that and now started brainstorming the layout. Wednesday we modeled the dividers. Thursday we kept modeling. Friday we finished modelling and are ready to show Mr. Rojas next Monday. After he approves of our designs we can start cutting out the pieces on the CNC machine.
This week on monday we showed Mr. Rojas our ideas for the paper and tool organizer. On Tuesday we redesigned our ideas a little bit and looked at the material that we will make it out of. Wednesday we worked with the CNC machine and talked about acrylic for the front panel. Thursday we talked about some other placement options for the paper. Friday we started 3D modeling the orginazer.
This week on Monday we talked with Mr. Rojas and discussed how he would like us to document our project. We also finished up organizing our cabinets by number order. On Tuesday we talked with MR. Rojas on what he would like us to work on next. He would like us to make an organizer that holds the paper A and B sizes, rulers, the drawing compasses, and the calibers. He also would like a somewhat flat top so he can put stuff on top or so kids have somewhere to put the things that they are taking out while they are still taking stuff out. On Wednesday we started brain storming and drawing up some different solutions. We realized that we are going to need two levels for the paper to save room and be able to put more stuff on top of the cabinets. Thursday we kept working on designing the best layout for the top of the cabinets. Next week we are going to discuss what is the best design and merge our designs together and by the end of next week hopefully have a final design. We did not have school on Friday.
This week we marked 48-59 drawers. Then I had to laser cut some more stencils for us to number the drawers 60-72. We then finished numbering all of the drawers. Next week we are planning on adjusting or Google sheet of were our screws are. We are also planning on starting a holder for the papers that will go on top of the cabinets.
This week we got caught up on labeling each drawer. We talked with Mr. Rojas about the CNC machine on Wednesday. Then we went back to labeling the drawers. Friday we cut out another 12 stencils for next week. We should finish this part by the end of next week.
This week I laser cut a lot of stencils and I had to cut some again because they did not cut all the way through. I think I have just started to figure out the perfect setting for the laser cutter to cut through the card stock most efficiently. This Friday I was absent due to an admitted students day at the University I would like to attend. Next week we are going to label a bunch of drawers to get caught up with how much I cut out this week. We also moved the newer CNC machine around a little bit so people can walk around it easier.
This week we did a lot of setting up the machines in the wood shop. We started by setting up the water jet by connecting it to the water line in the wall. We then took the chuck off an old broken router to see if it will fit on to the old CNC machine. It ended up fitting. Then we put together the air compressor for the vacuum table but we still need a hose to connect the air compressor to the table. We tested out to see if our stencils will fit on the drawers we need to number. We would like to start labeling by next week and get the vacuum table done by next week. Then on Friday we went to see if our school Chromebooks could run the code for the new CNC machine, which they cannot.
