We assmebled the arduino inside the project and also connected it to the app. We have the app programed to remind users, mark untaken pills, and also marked taken pills.
We had tuesday and wednesday off due to testing. We spent that time getting our trifold ready. We are going to have an informational trifold along with a chromebook for the showcase. The trifold will walk viewers through the process and some background information. The chromebook will be used to have a looped slideshow of pictures we took throughout the project
Today, only Abby was here. She finished the coding part of the project.
We want to use next week as time to figure out last minute issues. Two weeks after is showcase.
The laser cutting file was completed and ready to be printed. However, when we sent the file to Mr. Rojas, the dimensions, placment, and overall design had shifted. Mr. Rojas told us this is an issue that he will have to help us with because we do not have the resoucred to do it by ourselves.
We tried to cut the plywood today and ran into more errors. The camera on the laser cutter wouldn't detect all the wood, so it would only cut certain parts of it. We have tried to put the wood in a different direction and that also did not work. We are trying to problem solve and hopefully have this issue fixed by tomorrow.
Today we finally made progress with the cutter. We were able to cut out 8 of our side panels on the plywood. we did have to shave down some extra wood that the cutter did not laser through. Unfourtunatly, we were still unable to figure out the issue with the top part of the project. We did figure out that you can open the front and back panels of the glow forge to pass the wood through. We will try this tommorrow.
We finally got the printer to work! We spent most of the period touble shooting the printer and finally getting it to work. We also spent some time breaking off the excess wood that was still attatched to the side panels. We had to be extremly carful due to the intricate design of the foldable plywood cut.
We assembled our project today. We got all of our stuff cut out and were able to put it all together.
Next week we want to start working on the trifold, as we ave many days off. We also want to finish connecting the arduino to the app and code the remaining part of it. Two weeks from now is the week before showcase. We want to use that week to fix last minute issues and prepare for presenting.
This week was the first week back from spring break. Over break we worked on the file for the lazer printing. We need to laser print the container that will hold the arduino and pills.
Today we met with Rojas to go over out file for the laser cutter. We need to fix the dimensions a little bit. We measured out our plywood to fix the length. We need to have 8 side pieces printed out and 2 top and bottom peices. The design is a finely cut wood so that we are able to bend the plywood to create a hexagon shape.
We found issues in our file. The arduino set up will not fit in the current design we need to redo it.
We are continuing to remake the file. We are also updating our website to have the new design.
Today, only Abby was here. She found a mistake when she was uploading the file so she spent the day fixing that and double checking all other dimensions.
Next week we want to cut our plywood and have the outer part of our project entirly done. We also want to connect the arduino to the app that we made on MIT app inventor. Two weeks from now we want eveything to be assmebled and ready for showcase. We want the last week before showcase to be seamless and use that time to fix any last minute problems. We also have multiple days off in two weeks due to testing, so alot of our work will be done at home. We want to have the trifold started.
Aanya was sick today. Abby was in class and worked on making the design for the plywood box. We cannot cut today because Mr. Rojas is not in. However, we plan to start the cutting process by Friday. Although Aanya was absent, she was working on the app through the MIT app inventor. She has designed the face of the app and how it looks. She is still working on the coding part. We need the app to be able to sound an alarm when the user needs to be reminded AND when they have missed the pill. It needs to be able to mark whether pills have been taken and whether or not to sound the alarm.
Abby was sick today. Aanya continued with coding the app. We had to make changes on the face of the app because some things weren't working. The alarm wouldn't go off when we set the time. We need to redo the blocks and figure out the issue. Abby is continuing the design for the box, however she is very ill. She will have it finished by Friday.
Both of us were here today. We both continued to work on our assingments. We took pictures of our products and have added those to the drive. Abby has finished the design for the box however, it does not show up on her school computer. She will add it to the drive tonight so we can start the printing process on Friday. Aanya is working on fixing the app because it still will not remind the user to take the pill. It only sends a notification, not sound the alarm.

This week we started getting the dimensions for the outer case of the pill holder. We used Box.py to find some designs. We plan on doing an octagon shaped box with hinges for the lid. W7cu772e have to make the height and width at least a foot so we can fit all of the components in their. The bread board is the longest component and will take up about six inches.

This week we took inventory of all our materials. We had to make sure that we have enough plywood for what we are planning and that the plywood is long enough for the circumference of the machine. After we did the math for the dimensions we would need based on our model. We found that the plywood pieces we got would have to be glued together after cutting. The pieces are already the biggest possible pieces to fit in the machine. We also researched and discussed if wood glue would be strong enough to do what we want. This week we also started creating the model for the CNC.
We received half of our materials today. We got some of the main things to start up our project. We received the plywood and the motors. We plan on cutting the plywood in the next couple of weeks.
We reviewed last semester's assignments with Mr. Rojas to get them marked off. We had to update some of our model in fusion, so we could order materials. We reviewed the bill of materials with Mr. Rojas. We realized that a lot of our budget was being taken up by things we could easily get later. We remade the BOM and budgeted our project better. We discussed alternate materials however it would be unsafe to use clear acrylic for the "pills". Our final list of materials has been sent to the district for ordering. Most of the products we already have or can borrow from the FishBowl.
