This week we started getting the dimensions for the outer case of the pill holder. We used Box.py to find some designs. We plan on doing an octagon shaped box with hinges for the lid. We have to make the height and width at least a foot so we can fit all of the components in their. The bread board is the longest component and will take up about six inches.
This week we took inventory of all our materials. We had to make sure that we have enough plywood for what we are planning and that the plywood is long enough for the circumference of the machine. After we did the math for the dimensions we would need based on our model. We found that the plywood pieces we got would have to be glued together after cutting. The pieces are already the biggest possible pieces to fit in the machine. We also researched and discussed if wood glue would be strong enough to do what we want. This week we also started creating the model for the CNC.
We received half of our materials today. We got some of the main things to start up our project. We received the plywood and the motors. We plan on cutting the plywood in the next couple of weeks.
We reviewed last semester's assignments with Mr. Rojas to get them marked off. We had to update some of our model in fusion, so we could order materials. We reviewed the bill of materials with Mr. Rojas. We realized that a lot of our budget was being taken up by things we could easily get later. We remade the BOM and budgeted our project better. We discussed alternate materials however it would be unsafe to use clear acrylic for the "pills". Our final list of materials has been sent to the district for ordering. Most of the products we already have or can borrow from the FishBowl.
