How does Caro protect my personal information?
To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. We also do not store confidential or sensitive information using cookies.
How does Caro collect my personal information?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you:
Open an account or apply for a loan
Show your driver's license or provide personal information
Give us your contact information
We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.
Why can’t I limit all sharing?
Federal law gives you the right to limit only:
Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes — information about your creditworthiness
Affiliates from using your information to market to you
Sharing for non-affiliates to market to you
State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.
Definitions
Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial or non-financial companies.
Caro—Smart Financial Solutions has no affiliates.
Non-Affiliates
Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non-financial companies.
Caro—Smart Financial Solutions does not share with non-affiliates so they can market to you.
Joint Marketing
A formal agreement between non-affiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.
Our joint marketing partners include financial service and insurance companies.
Location Data
We may collect and process information about your device’s location. This may include precise location (such as GPS data) or approximate location (such as IP address–based location).
Location data may be used for the following purposes:
To enhance the security of our services
To help detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity
To improve service functionality and user experience
The information collected may be processed by our systems or trusted service providers strictly for security and operational purposes. We do not sell or rent your location information to third parties.
You can control location access through your device settings. If you choose to disable location permissions, some features of the application may not function properly.
SMS Communication Policy
Consent for SMS Communications
Upon granting consent to receive SMS communications from our credit union, your phone number and consent will remain confidential. We will not sell or share your information with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Your phone number and consent will only be used to facilitate communication with you.
Types of SMS Communications
Messages may include:
Updates on loans or account inquiries
Notifications for job applicants
Appointment reminders
Important account-related information
Example message:
“Hi John Smith, this is a reminder about your upcoming appointment with Caro Federal Credit Union on 1/31/2025 at 3 PM. We look forward to seeing you!”
To unsubscribe, reply STOP. Message and data rates may apply.
Message Frequency
You may receive approximately 2–5 messages per day related to your requests, though frequency may vary depending on the communication.
Opt-In Methods
You may opt-in to receive SMS messages in the following ways:
Verbal consent during a conversation
Submitting an online form
Filling out a paper form
Opt-Out Methods
You can opt-out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message you receive.
You may also contact us directly to request removal from our messaging list.
Additional Options
If you do not wish to receive SMS messages, simply leave the SMS consent checkbox unchecked on our forms.
