Year 1: In the previous academic year, Year 1 students explored the concepts of relationships and happiness during the project titled 'What makes me, me?' This project delved into the understanding of self in relation to family, establishing foundational knowledge in the concepts of relationships and personal happiness.
Year 2: In their prior learning experience titled 'What makes us strong?', engaged with the concepts of resilience and happiness. This project extended their understanding beyond individual well-being to the collective strength of the group. Additionally, they delved into the connections between physical activity and positive emotions, expanding their comprehension of factors contributing to happiness.
Through engaging in the creation of a happiness brochure or poster and actively participating in the Healthy Mind Workshop, learners will develop the motivation, resilience and decision-making abilities needed to articulate and share their understanding of happiness. These experiences support their journey in becoming ambitious, capable learners who are well-prepared for lifelong learning.
Engaging in activities like the meditation/yoga workshop, bath bomb creation and Kindness Day helps learners understand the impact of their actions on emotions, fostering a sense of responsibility. Exploring methods for achieving happiness locally and globally enhances their knowledge of culture, community and society. Through the concept of relationships, especially during Kindness Day, learners cultivate respect for the needs and rights of others, contributing to their development as ethical, informed citizens.
Through discussions and tasks on conflict resolution, learners will develop confidence, resilience, and empathy, contributing to the enhancement of their mental and emotional well-being. The project's focus on the concepts of relationships and resilience enables pupils to form positive relationships based on trust and mutual respect, providing opportunities to face and overcome challenges. Additionally, by learning to regulate their emotions and finding methods to improve self-esteem and happiness, pupils acquire the skills and knowledge to manage everyday life more independently, supporting their journey to becoming healthy, confident individuals.
Engaging in the creation of ideas and products for a Christmas fayre or well-being shop, learners connect and apply their knowledge and skills, embodying the role of enterprising creative contributors. The concept of choice encourages pupils to take measured risks in designing their products, fostering a sense of responsibility. Throughout the product creation activities, learners lead and play different roles in teams effectively and responsibly, honing their collaborative skills.
While exploring the pursuit of happiness, pupils express ideas and emotions through various media, including digital platforms, posters and presentations. This enhances their capacity to be expressive and creative contributors. Participating in a well-being workshop, learners channel their energy and skills to benefit others, exemplifying the spirit of enterprising creative contributors who contribute positively to the well-being of the community.
