Here is this week's news:
We are so proud of our Year 6 children, who took their SATS exams this week. Today they have enjoyed a well deserved, fun-filled yet relaxing day of games and pizza making! Next week is the Year 5&6 residential - we are hoping for sunshine for them but I'm sure they will have fun whatever the weather. On Monday, Elliott S and Jasper are representing Twyning School in the inter-schools K'NEX (STEM) Finals at Renishaw Plc - we wish them the very best of luck and are sure they will have an amazing experience.
Here's hoping for another sunny weekend!
Congratulations this week go to...
All of Year 6!

I have decided to retire Peggy at Half Term so that she can enjoy her final years at home without needing to get in and out of the car, which she is finding increasingly difficult. I will bring her in next week so that the children and staff can see her and wish her a happy retirement. She has done a wonderful job, even though she hasn't always realised it!
Please don't forget to order your tickets for Bingo Night! Forms were sent home with children yesterday. Our PTFA are planning on having a bar, and selling cakes and bakes too. For tickets please complete and return the form sent home with your children today or email ptfa@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk . Your £10 fee includes a complimentary drink and your bingo book. Children are welcome to play but must be accompanied by an adult.
We are very much looking forward to this! Mr Davies has kindly agreed to be our caller and is brushing up on his bingo-lingo!

Re: Cooking Club - this is for Y5&6 children who have NOT YET done it, and will run for 4 weeks (not on Tuesday 18th June) - numbers are limited and there is a £10 charge per child to cover ingredients. Children's names will be drawn out of a hat on Wednesday 5th June and you will be notified by email if your child has a place. Please email Mrs Bowen to get your child's name 'in the hat'.

We have a couple of in our Reception Class for September 2024. If you know anyone who still needs a space for this September, and would like their child to join our fantastic new Early Years classroom please ask them to call the school office for details on 01684 293577.
We have noticed an increasing amount of cuddly toys and fidget toys coming into school from home over recent weeks. Please can we ask that children do not bring in any of these items from home.
If your child requires these resources then this will need to be pre-arranged with myself and in line with an identified need.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Kind regards

What a rockstar week it has been!
The battles have been close as the week has progressed but we have two clear winners that are revealed below!
Next week, there will be no battles as we are busy with residentials for Year 5 and 6.
Congratulations to Year 3 and Year 4!!
Year 3's were victorious in battle against Year 6 this week earning 212 points against a whopping 5 points for Year 6 (we will let them off as it was SATs week). Year 4 were also victorious in their battle with Year 5, achieving 530 points against 333!
Times Table Rockstars ranks the 'most valuable players' during the rock battle this week and these children in each year group earned the acclaim:
Year 3:
1: Isla M 2: Lea W 3: Keira R
Year 4:
1: Keira N 2: Leo N-S 3: Bertie F
Year 5:
1: Eliza S 2: Kellan R 3: Cleo C
Year 6:
1: Joseph W 2: Millie B
As a part of our Times Table Rockstar subscription - we have also been able to use a program called Numbots that focuses on understanding of number bonds, subitising numbers and addition and subtraction skills. We see this as a perfect step into understanding multiplication and division facts with Times Table Rockstars.
Year 2's currently have logins so that they can access 'numbots' at both home and at school. We would also like to note that it is not a requirement that the children access this at home as they will currently be able to access this program during the school week.
This week - Willow O'H has been given an award for achieving a brilliant streak of correct answers!
Please can children bring coats or if it is sunny, they should also bring a sunhat and wear suncream to school. They also need a tracksuit top or school sweatshirt for PE and sporting clubs over their t-shirt. We are outside for PE as often as possible. There are still a few unnamed PE tops and quite a few jumpers currently in the lost property box - if you have lost one, please come and have a look!

One of our Year 6 pupils, Freddie, has decided to raise some money for a fantastic cause. Freddie is doing a sponsored litter pick for Cheltenham Animal Shelter!
He will be picking litter around Twyning during May half term. He is hoping to raise £150 for the animal shelter to help support the great work that the charity do.
