This week's news: Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all! The children have all settled into school life and are working hard. Its been a busy week with swimming and clubs starting. This afternoon 25 children from Owls and Hedgehogs have gone up to Resorts World Arena in Birmingham to participate in Young Voices (see photo above!), where they will sing and dance with thousands of other children from across the country! We hope they have a wonderful time, and we are sure they will be an absolute credit to Twyning School.
Congratulations this week go to...

There will be a change to the lunches next Thursday 18th January. We would like to encourage as many children as possible to try a school dinner. The choices are:
A: Beefburger in a bun with chips, beans or peas
B: Veggie burger in a bun with chips, beans or peas
C: Jacket Potato with the usual fillings
Swimming yesterday involved assessment to confirm the levels and groups. There are a few changes to the bus groups and teaching will begin in earnest next week. If you have not yet paid, please do so via parentpay as soon as you are able. Many thanks.
Thank you to the parents who have agreed to go on the rota to help the children in the changing rooms. We simply could not do this without your help.
On Monday 19th February (the first day after half-term) we are planning to take Hedgehogs and Owls to Tewkesbury to participate in Geography workshops and visit the Gaia exhibition at the Abbey. To help keep the cost to a minimum we will need your support in transporting the children to and from Tewkesbury. We will provide more details in due course, but the trip will involve you dropping off your child at the meeting point in town at approximately 9.10am and collecting at approximately 2.45pm, which will still allow enough time for you to drop and collect other siblings from school. We will send home letters with more details as soon as we have full trip costings.
Please remember that all school dinner account balances should be in credit at all times. Many thanks. If your child's account is overdrawn please could you log in and clear the outstanding balance this weekend? Many thanks.
This term's menu is the same as before Christmas and can be found on our website. If you need a printed copy please ask Mrs Bowen for one.
Thank you for your kind donations after the Owls & Hedgehogs Carol Service before Christmas - the church were collecting for the Christian charity EMBRACE which tackles poverty in many countries of the Middle East. A total of £75 was raised at the service. The church also collected at other Carol Services in the Village Hall and in Church, and are pleased to say that a cheque for £350 has been sent to EMBRACE.
The attached extracts from the 2023 Carol sheets show the sort of support that EMBRACE and its partners can provide.

Due to increasing numbers, it has been necessary for us to find a new venue for our residential. We are delighted to have found a wonderful centre with excellent accomodation and very large grounds. It is the Noah's Ark Children's Venture, Macaroni Wood, near Cirencester : https://www.macaroniwood.org.uk/ We will have sole use of the centre and all facilities.
Thank you to those who have returned their slips. We still have a few outstanding - please hand these in on return to school in January please.
