Here is this week's news:
Firstly, I would like to let you know that Mrs Lowe, our wonderful SENDCO, will very sadly be leaving us in July. She has been offered a job working for the Advisory Teaching team at Gloucestershire County Council which is a great achievement and we are all very proud of her. We will miss Mrs Lowe enormously but we also wish her the very best of success with her new role. She is with us until the summer holidays so her last day will be in the last week of term.
Secondly, I must let you know that we are therefore advertising for a SENDCO to join our Twyning team and we hope to make our new appointment in time for September. I will let you know as soon as we have.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend which should be sunny according to the forecast!
Congratulations this week go to...

It is always great to see the creative designs of water bottles that the children bring to school everyday - the children are all very good at keeping themselves hydrated particularly in the hotter weather but... Please can you ensure that the bottles (including their components which come apart) are regularly washed to avoid any mould building - this does happen especially if children have juice or squash rather than water. We do ask that children only bring water in their bottles rather than squash or juice as it so much healthier for them, particularly their teeth. This is very much recommended and is consistent with other primary school policies. Thank you.
We have taken many pre-orders and numbers are limited, so if you would like a school tea-towel for only £5, please complete and return the order form, with your money, as soon as possible. The tea towels will be with us in around 4 weeks. Order forms were given to every child but if you need another please ask Mrs Bowen for one. Numbers are limited, so get your orders in as soon as possible!! If you do not have cash, you can now pay by using this link https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QWDDPK2M but please still send in your completed order form, clearly marked "paid online using applepay/googlepay link" otherwise when the tea towels arrive we will not be able to allocate yours to you!
Congratulations to Team Twyning, Josh W, Elliott S, Millie B and Sam O, who came second to very tough competition in the final of the Schools Nature Quiz, which is an amazing result! We are so proud of you and hope you enjoyed the experience.
This week: Sam O, Amelia H, Freddie N-S, Josh W, Tom Y, Teddy H and Joseph W took part in a cricket tournament at Tewskebury Cricket Club. They played two brilliant games against Glenfell and Tirlebrook.
The first game against Glenfell ended as a draw with both teams scoring 44 runs. However, the Twyning team managed to take 3 wickets against Glenfell's 2 so it was classed as a win!
The second game against Tirlerbook was also unbelievably close and it all came down to just 7 runs. Tirlebrook won the game in the last over.
Well done to the cricket team!
Ladies and Gents this is the moment you've waited for....
It is almost time for our end of year production! This year the children will be performing 'The Greatest Showman'!
We will be putting on three performances for you to attend:
Performance 1 - Monday 8th July @ 2pm.
Performance 2 - Monday 8th July @ 6pm.
Performance 3 - Tuesday 9th July @ 10am.
Ticket letters will be given out next week.
What a great night! Thank you to our PTFA for organising this wonderful evening - it looked like everyone really enjoyed themselves. The net total raised was just over £400 which is an amazing amount! Thank you also to Mr Davies for being our Bingo caller.
On Monday ten year 4 children attended the Move More Tri-golf festival at Sherdons Golf centre. They took part in a variety of putting and chipping challenges and had a fabulous time. Scores were compared against the other participating schools and we were delighted to come back with gold medals for our winning place. Well done to Zane, William, Bertie, Ethan, Alex, Tia, Naomi, Florence, Holly and Eva-Jayne.
Please can we remind you about the information evening for parents on Thursday 13th June, 6.00pm at school.
WOW! Times Table Rockstars has been brilliant this week!
It is great to see each year group still engaged and working hard on their times tables. Well done everyone.
Congratulations to Year 4!!!
Year 4 ABSOLUTELY smashed it this week! You can definitely tell they are getting ready for their times table multiplication check. They've managed to score a whopping 2256 points which has blown everyone else out of the water! Well done Year 4.
Times Table Rockstars ranks the 'most valuable players' during the rock battle this week and these children in each year group earned the acclaim:
Year 3:
1: Keira R 2: Isla M 3: Millie L
Year 4:
1: Leo H 2: Keira N 3: Hallie B
Year 5:
1: Vienna K 2: Kellan R 3: Edward D
Year 6:
1: Elliott E-C 2: Millie B 3. Elena W
As a part of our Times Table Rockstar subscription - we have also been able to use a program called Numbots that focuses on understanding of number bonds, subitising numbers and addition and subtraction skills. We see this as a perfect step into understanding multiplication and division facts with Times Table Rockstars.
Year 2's currently have logins so that they can access 'numbots' at both home and at school. We would also like to note that it is not a requirement that the children access this at home as they will currently be able to access this program during the school week.
This week - Jacob R has been given an award for achieving a great amount of games completed this week!
Please can children bring raincoats or if it is sunny, they should also bring a sunhat and wear sun cream to school. They also need a tracksuit top or school sweatshirt for PE and sporting clubs over their t-shirt. We are outside for PE as often as possible. There are still a few unnamed PE tops and quite a few jumpers currently in the lost property box - if you have lost one, please come and have a look!
