Twyning School - Newsletter 01.03.2024
This week's news:
Another busy week passes and we have lots to look forward to next week! Please see below for information about our World Book Day celebrations next week including our 'Twyning School Literary Festival'.
Please note that we are in the Ofsted Inspection 'window' and we are expecting them to visit us in the coming weeks or months. They will telephone us to inform us the day before their visit and at that point we will send you further information including a parental survey that they will ask to be completed. As a team, we are looking forward to this long-awaited visit so that we can share all of the school's successes and excellent practice - we are extremely confident that it will be a successful inspection.

Tewkesbury Y5&6 football tournament
On Tuesday our year 5&6 football team played in the Tewkesbury district cup tournament at Tewkesbury Academy. We played five games, with no wins but drawing two matches, and their play and teamwork improved throughout the tournament. Elliott E-C received a medal for superb play in goal and out on the pitch. Well done to Elliott, Teddy, Jasper, Joseph, Freddie, Josh, Tom, Leighton and Sam H.
cross country
On Sunday Elena, Sam O, Leo H and Leo N-S represented the Tewkesbury district at the Gloucestershire County championships at Newent school. They all ran superbly and we are very proud of them. Particular congratulations go to Elena who placed 6th and has therefore been selected to represent Gloucestershire at the National Championships near Loughborough this Sunday. We wish her all the best, competing against the best runners in England.

world book day dress up 8th March
The School Council have asked the children how they would like to celebrate world book day. As there is a lot going on the Thursday, we thought we would give the children the opportunity on the Friday to dress up as their favorite book character OR come to school in comfortable clothes and bring in their favourite book. If you feel you can contribute, please bring £1 or more towards putting on our World Book Day events.
comic relief - friday 15th march
Children are invited to come to school wearing sporty kit and trainers with something red if possible. They will have the opportunity to take part in some fun physical challenges during the day. We will also be holding a cake sale after school. Please send cakes in on the day and monetary donations in the morning for Comic relief. If your child goes to an after school club, please could you give them some cake money in addition to the morning donation as I'm sure they would like a cake.
