Twyning School - Newsletter 08.03.2024

This week's news:

What a great week we have had! The children really enjoyed our 'Twyning School Literature Festival', meeting two authors, Ruth Ahmedzai-Kemp and Danielle Seater! It was lovely to see them all enjoying themselves dressed up in their amazing outfits. Photos will be appear on class dojo pages very soon. Thank you for your kind donations towards the cost of our Literature Festival - we collected £80. One of the authors who visited us today is running a competition - you will find details regarding this further down this newsletter.

Please note that we are in the Ofsted Inspection 'window' and we are expecting them to visit us in the coming weeks or months. They will telephone us to inform us the day before their visit and at that point we will send you further information including a parental survey that they will ask to be completed. As a team, we are looking forward to this long-awaited visit so that we can share all of the school's successes and excellent practice - we are extremely confident that it will be a successful inspection.

cross country

'Well done' is an understatement to say how proud we are of Elena who took part in the National cross country championships on Sunday, competing against the best runners in the country. She placed an incredible 55th in a race of 253 runners. A superb performance!

Years 3&4 district football league

On Tuesday, our years 3 and 4 football team took part in their second football tournament (the first part having been played in the Autumn). They won all 4 games on Tuesday with a total of 7 stunning goals from several of our team. They worked incredibly hard as a team and finished the combined tournaments in 2nd place, just behind Carrant Brook. We celebrated their achievement in assembly today showing off their silver medals. Well done to Leo N-S, Leo H, Bertie, Theo, Oliver, Isla, Jack C, Jesse and Joe.

tag rugby

Next week will be the last tag rugby session with Pete this term. On Wednesday 20th March, we will be taking ten of them to an all day tag rugby festival at Newlands Park and we will be late back. The team will be selected next week. After Easter we are hoping to have two more Wednesday sessions with Pete as there will be a second, smaller festival at Tewkesbury after that.
