If you've not already ordered your BINGO tickets for the PTFA Bingo night on 5th June, please email PTFA over half term - see below for further details. Tickets were sent out in book bags yesterday and today for those who have already returned their forms.
Here is this week's news:
Year 5&6 have enjoyed a fantastic residential residential in the (mostly) sunshine! On Tuesday, the rest of Hedgehogs and Owls enjoyed an amazing visit to the "Sculpture in the Gardens" exhibition at Showborough House for some art appreciation, inspiration and still life drawing. Elliott S and Jasper did really well representing Twyning School in the inter-schools K'NEX (STEM) Finals at Renishaw Plc on Monday - well done to them.
Next week is half term, and I wish you all a fabulous week of sunshine!
Congratulations this week go to...

Peggy would like to thank you for the wonderful thoughtful cards and gifts she has received! She has done a wonderful job, even though she hasn't always realised it! She has really enjoyed her last day at school!
Earlier this week we travelled to the Pioneer Centre, Cleobury Mortimer for our residential. Children participated in climbing, abseiling, zip wire, high ropes, challenge course, caving, archery, raft building and a beautiful evening walk in the Wyre forest. We are so proud of the children, some of whom faced their fear of heights and challenged themselves to their limit. They were a credit to Twyning School and it was a pleasure to take them away.

Please don't forget to order your tickets for Bingo Night! Forms were sent home with children a while ago. Our PTFA are planning on having a bar, and selling cakes and bakes too. For tickets please complete and return the form sent home with your children today or email ptfa@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk . Your £10 fee includes a complimentary drink and your bingo book. Children are welcome to play but must be accompanied by an adult.
We are very much looking forward to this! Mr Davies has kindly agreed to be our caller and is brushing up on his bingo-lingo!
This morning we took a team of ten year 4 pupils to an athletics event at Tewkesbury Academy. The year 6's also attended as young leaders, helping with the whole event. Seven schools from Tewkesbury and Cheltenham took part. All children competed in a 50m sprint, 400m run, standing long jump and a howler throw. Points were calculated based on times and distances. At the end there was a fun, non-scoring relay. Our children performed with great determination and we came 4th overall (a fantastic result for the smallest school taking part). The year 6 young leaders were congratulated by other schools' staff for being so helpful. Well done to Hallie, Livvy, Keira N, Lacey-Mae, Maisie, Jack W, Leo N-S, Leo H, Oliver, Theo, Teddy, Sam O, Elliott S, Freddie, Jude, Joseph, Jasper, Tabitha, Amelia and Millie.
We are now looking forward to the next residential with Year 3&4 to Noah's Ark childrens' venture, Macaroni Wood. There will be an information evening for parents on Thursday 13th June, 6.00pm at school.
The children have been working hard and have collaboratively created a school tea towel! As you can see, every child has drawn their own portrait and some children have even carefully drawn the staff and Peggy... The last time we had a school tea towel was around 2017 and some of us haven't changed at all - although some staff do look quite different! The tea towels will be with us in around 4/5 weeks so if you would like to pre-order one please send in the order form and £5 per towel. Order forms were given to every child yesterday. Numbers are limited, so get your orders in as soon as possible, however, if we have more orders than tea towels, we will be able to order another print run (however these extra will be a bit delayed).
There were no battles this week due to our Year 5 and 6 residential.
The next rockstar battle will start today (24th May) and end on Friday 7th June!
This battle will be between Year 3, 4, 5 and 6!
As a part of our Times Table Rockstar subscription - we have also been able to use a program called Numbots that focuses on understanding of number bonds, subitising numbers and addition and subtraction skills. We see this as a perfect step into understanding multiplication and division facts with Times Table Rockstars.
Year 2's currently have logins so that they can access 'numbots' at both home and at school. We would also like to note that it is not a requirement that the children access this at home as they will currently be able to access this program during the school week.
This week - Sammy R has been given an award for achieving a brilliant streak of correct answers!
Please can children bring coats or if it is sunny, they should also bring a sunhat and wear suncream to school. They also need a tracksuit top or school sweatshirt for PE and sporting clubs over their t-shirt. We are outside for PE as often as possible. There are still a few unnamed PE tops and quite a few jumpers currently in the lost property box - if you have lost one, please come and have a look!

One of our Year 6 pupils, Freddie, has decided to raise some money for a fantastic cause. Freddie is doing a sponsored litter pick for Cheltenham Animal Shelter!
He will be picking litter around Twyning during May half term. He is hoping to raise £150 for the animal shelter to help support the great work that the charity do.
