Here is this week's news:
Staffing news: We are very pleased to announce that we have appointed Miss Hannah Thomas to teach Hedgehogs while Miss Taylor is on maternity leave. Miss Thomas will join us in September and will work alongside Miss Taylor until Miss Taylor leaves us to have her baby. This will give the children an excellent transition period and I'm sure they are already excited to welcome Miss Thomas to our school. Miss Thomas will also cover Mrs Abell's PPA release time on a Thursday afternoon. We have also been successful in appointing Miss Michelle Ginn who will replace Mrs Lowe as SENDCo when she leaves us. Miss Ginn is already a very experienced SENDCo who has worked in various schools prior to joining us at Twyning. I hope you will all join us in welcoming our new staff members in September.
Other news: I'm sure you will all agree that sports day was absolutely amazing - the children were superb and all looked like they enjoyed the event despite the rain! Thank you so much to all of the helpers and volunteers - we could not have put on the event without you.
School Reports have been sent out with children today - please check your child's bookbag. Swimming distance certificates have been added to the report envelopes for years 2,3 and 4. There are a few children who do not have them. This is because they were absent or did not swim in the last two weeks when assessment took place.
Clubs have now finished for the summer (apart from Yoga which has one week left).
On Tuesday the children were treated to the dress rehearsal of The Greatest Showman, performed by our amazing year 6 leavers and our year 5s. They did a super job - well done all. As an audience, you really are in for a treat next week!
Next week, years 5 and 6 are looking forward to performing their play to parents and families in three showings - I hope you are all looking forward to the show! There are still seats available for Monday's 2pm show, and Tuesday's 10am show so if you need more tickets, please see Mrs Bowen as soon as possible! Tickets are only £1 each.
School summer disco, the leavers disco and 'Break the Rules day' are also coming up - see below for further details!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Congratulations this week go to...

Well done to all our children on Wednesday afternoon at our annual sports day. Despite the weather, they enjoyed and achieved with particular congratulations to Topaz who won both the Sports Day and the Fair Play cups. We would like to say a huge thank you to the parents, grandparents, ex pupils and other volunteers from our community who ran the activity stations. Without them, it would not be possible.
We would like to recognise the achievements of Phoebe, an ex Twyning pupil and daughter of Miss Aston. Last weekend, Phoebe was selected to represent Great Britain in the J16 rowing doubles in the GB vs France annual competition in Paris next week. This is an astonishing achievement! Well done Phoebe!
This has led to a slight change in the Years 3&4 residential staffing with Mrs Bourton replacing Miss Aston who will now be travelling with Phoebe to Paris.
Back by popular demand... Break the rules day! This will be held on Tuesday 16th July. The children absolutely loved this PTFA event last year and it was lovely to see them all with funny socks, different coloured hair etc! Please see the list of rules they are allowed to break this time, and the payment associated. All money will go towards the PTFA funds which are used to pay for all sorts of play equipment, books, special events, new IT equipment, and other items that we simply cannot afford to buy from school funds. We hope you will enjoy and support this event.
Dear Parents
We are excited to share that our school hosted a Money Wise workshop this year that was aimed at enhancing our students' financial literacy. The workshop provided valuable insights and practical skills to help students manage their finances better.
To understand the impact of the workshop, the Make Sense of Pence team is keen to hear from you and your children. They are collecting stories and feedback on any changes or new habits formed as a result of attending the workshop. Here’s an inspiring quote from one of the students:
“It has helped me to understand the value of money. Just the other day I was going to buy a really expensive water bottle, but I didn’t, I found a cheaper one.”
We kindly ask you to share your child's experiences and any positive changes you have noticed by filling out the form at the link below. All entries will be entered into a draw to win a Hootini the Owl Hoody.

Your participation is greatly appreciated and will help the Make Sense of Pence team continue to improve and tailor their workshops to benefit more students.
Thank you for your time and support.
The final discos of the year will be held on Wednesday 17th July in the school hall. Children have all been given order forms today. Please hand your forms and money to Mrs Bowen or your child's class teacher as soon as possible.
Please note the earlier disco is for reception up to year 4 children, and the later disco is purely for year 5 and 6 and will be longer, with food and a photographer present, hence the price difference.
I have sent all year six parents a survey for their leavers to complete. Please help your child to complete this - we very much value their views.
Please note that ALL school dinner account debts MUST be cleared or in credit by the last week of term. Please make sure that you have also credited enough money to your child's parentpay account to pay for your child's dinners in that last week!
Last week, we took part in the Tewkesbury and district rounders tournament at Tewkesbury Academy. We played four games, losing the first two, but improved throughout, winning the last two games. They played really well as a team, encouraging each other. A special mention goes to Evie for her bravery, continuing to play despite an injury during the last game. Well done to Evie, Amelia, Elena, Keira N, Teddy, Freddie, Elliott E-C, Joseph and Sam O.
We are looking to create a donations box for good quality trainers, PE shoes, school shoes, school bags, pencil cases etc. If you are having a clear out and find any old but usable good quality items I'm sure there are many other children in Gloucestershire and our local area who are in need of them. These items will be collected and sent to children who may not be fortunate enough to have these school items. We will have a collection box ready to drop items in, by the school main doors during the last few weeks of this term. Thank you for support.
Ladies and Gents this is the moment you've waited for....
It is almost time for our end of year production! This year the Year 5&6 children will be performing 'The Greatest Showman'!

Some long awaited results have arrived regarding the cross country this year. Unfortunately due to flooding on the Vineyards, none of the Spring races were able to take place. Results were compiled based on the three Autumn races and we are delighted to say that Twyning won the small schools' boys trophy, came 2nd in the girls team competition and won the small schools' overall trophy. Elena received a trophy for her individual performance placing second in the girls' competition and Leo H placed equal 4th in the boys competition. Congratulations go to all those who ran: Elena, Tabitha, Arianne, Maisie, Florence, Hallie, Scarlett, Vienna, Keira N, Sam H, Tom, Henry R, Oliver, William, Jack W, Jude, Leighton, Leo H, Bertie, Zane, Sam O, Theo, Lewis, Leo N-S, Alex, Joseph and Josh.
There are only 3 tea towels left! If you still want one, please ask Mrs Bowen for one and bring £5 per towel..
