Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon all! I hope you have all had a lovely week!
Yesterday evening, we welcomed our September 2025 Reception Class families for an information evening. It was lovely to meet everybody and we are all looking forward to welcome our new children very soon. Thank you all staff and our PTFA who helped out last night at the event.
This week, ten of our children took part in the "First Mathematics" challenge - a nationwide primary schools year 3&4 competition. Well
done to Keira R, Sophia, Bonnie, Isla, Joe, Evelyn, Willow, William B, Jacob and Lucas who all received certificates for representing our school.
Sports Day - Wednesday 2nd July at 1.00pm. Thank you so much to the parents and other volunteers who have offered to run activity stations on sports day. We are hoping for good weather! Please see the menu change for sports day below.
Please can I remind everybody about Parentpay dinners balances - these MUST be cleared before the year end. These accounts should generally stay in credit but we do have quite a few with small balances outstanding. Thank you.
Also a reminder about the road closures next week - I am told these are from 3rd July and will not disrupt our Sports Day on Wednesday 2nd. Please see the red signs around the village for locations and dates.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Gladstone

On Tuesday, we took part in the district rounders tournament at Tewkesbury Academy. We played 7 matches, winning 5 of them with some superb batting and fielding. The children showed amazing teamwork, supporting each other and playing with determination and passion. Overall, we placed 2nd in the tournament to Carrant Brook (the winners). This was a fantastic result. Well done to Tom, Scarlett, Josh, Livvy, Leo H, Leo N-S, Florence, William, Keira N and Bertie.
Order forms have been sent out with children today! We are very excited to support the PTFA running this fun event. Some of the staff will be joining in - please dont get us too dirty! Orders need to be in by Friday 4th July. Thanks.
We have a vacancy for a keen enthusiastic person to work in our After School Club, generally after school between 3:15 and 5:15pm from September for a couple of afternoons although there could be more sessions available if required. Training will be given. If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to come along to an after school club session to see the job in action, please see Miss Gladstone or Mrs Bowen or email head@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk.

Please can we remind you to thoroughly sun cream your children before school and send hats, especially on PE days, as we move into summer. Thank you.
Apply online for free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school will still have to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
