Here is this week's news:
I hope you have all had a good week. I cannot believe we are at the end of this term already!
The discos on Wednesday were a great success! It was so lovely to see all the children having fun with their friends. Thank you to our PTFA for organising, and to all the amazing helpers and staff who helped make the evening a success.
Yesterday was our Harvest Assembly. Thank to everyone who brought in fruit/vegetables/tins and packets of food to make up our wonderful harvest displayand an even bigger thank you for buying them all back again afterwards! We raised an amazing £162 for Tewkesbury Food Bank.
SCHOOL PHOTO ORDERS! Vikki Kelly has now collected all orders from us, so if you have forgotten to order, please email Vikki urgently on vikkikellyphotography@gmail.com

Mrs Leggett sent out club lists on DOJO this week. Thank you to those who have already put their children's names down. Dont forget to email Mrs Bowen if you've not already dopne so, to register your child for any of next term's clubs.
If you have been given a place in Nature Club please remember to return your consent forms to Mrs Bowen.
Nicola Marples teaches a small choir in school, currently on Tuesdays after school. This club will be moving to a Thursday for the next term, with effect from 3rd November. The children learn and practice in school weekly, and also sing in the family church services once a month. Last week, we were treated to their singing in our Open The Book Assembly and were very impressed with the quality! If your child would like to join the choir, please email admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk
Our Christmas Fair is on 12th December. To help make the event a success, we will need a few donations! We will be holding our usual Chocolate tombola, Bottle tombola and the ever-popular "Secret Wrapping Room". We will be holding two non-uniform days where children are invited to wear clothes of their own choice to school (sensible - no "heely" shoes or high heels please) in exchange for bringing an item for the tombola, and an item for the secret wrapping room.
Dates are published above. If your child has PE on a Friday, please can they wear something that still would be suitable to do PE in!
For those of you new to the school, the secret wrapping room is a child-only shopping space, run by school staff. All of the donated items will be laid out in price order on the tables in the room, like a little shop. Children enter on their own, and "shop" for a gift for you! The staff will help them to wrap their chosen gift and label it, bringing it home for you to open on Christmas Day.
The event is now fully booked!
If you have booked to make a wreath but you have not yet paid, please can this be actioned asap.
Payment can either be made by 'sumup' with your bank card or phone - please see Mrs Bowen on the playground to pay, or you can to pay for your booking online - please send £35 per ticket to PTFA account 67374821 Sort code 089299 and quote the reference "wreath" and your name (please email admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk to let us know you have made payment this wa). Many thanks.
Next term's menus are now available to view on the school website. Paper copies are available from the office - please ask Mrs Bowen.
School dinners are £2.95 each for all children from Year 3 and above, unless you qualify for free school meals (see below for details of this). School dinner accounts should always be in credit. Please make sure you have loaded money onto your children's accounts.

Please see this week's infographics. It is really interesting to see how our attendance as a school fits within the county and national statistics. Our whole school attendance is now just above the national and local authority percentages which is fantastic to see. It is so important that, when well, children do attend school, however, we do appreciate that children need to stay home in some circumstances - please see Is my child well enough for school? for clarification.
Hopefully we will all keep those winter bugs away now! We look forward to seeing a continuing upward trend as the week's progress... Well done everyone!
FirstPort are the appointed residential property management company responsible for looking after the communal areas, shared grounds, and estate infrastructure for some of the new housing developments in Twyning . They have asked that we share this information regarding water safety in connection with the Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) including attenuation and balancing ponds on and around the housing estates. Please share this important information with your children and families. Many thanks.
We are delighted to let you know that we now have a new uniform supplier (SCHOOL TRENDS). Our existing supplier (GOOCH) will be continuing as well for the next few months.
The uniform section of our website has been updated accordingly. Please follow this link to School Trends:
https://www.schooltrends.co.uk/collections/twyning-school
Please note the slight changes to the PE uniform from our new supplier.
Please let us know if there are any initial teething problems but we are now hoping that ordering should be a smooth process!
In accordance with government guidelines, school uniform should have a maximum of three branded pieces, so that parents can buy more generic items elsewhere. Our 3 branded items are:
School jumper / School cardigan
New style PE fleece
PE t-shirt
Our PTFA have kindly offered to supply a branded school bookbag to each new starter - we are very grateful for this. The white polo shorts do not need to be logo polo shirts, however the option is available on the School Trends website should you wish to buy them, but they are not compulsory.
For PE, shorts/cycling shorts/leggings should be navy not black.
Thank you all so much for your support so far with parking on these dates. It is much appreciated by the site management. There is now only one more date, as far as we are aware! These large deliveries, will require both Fleet Lane and the whole of High Street to be free from cars parked on the side of the road. We have been advised that this COULD affect school drop off and pick up times and that people should NOT park on the roadsides from 7am - 5pm.
These large deliveries are currently scheduled for:
Monday 28th September (this was brought forward to 24th Sept)
Thursday 1st October
Monday 12th October
Monday 9th November
We will update you with further information as we know it.
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You should advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website where you can download a document that lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. Click this link www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/communications/140690 and then click on the blue band "contacts and emails" to download.
For every child that is entitled to free school meals the school receives extra funding to enhance provision and improve progress and outcomes for children. So please apply even if you do not wish to take up your free school meal.
Your child might be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
Universal Credit
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.
Please note - From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, eligibility is being expanded to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household earnings.
Your child will be able to get free school meals if they are in:
Reception
Year 1
Year 2
We still ask that you apply for free school meals so that the school does not miss out on additional funding to which it is entitled.
