Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon all!
I’m pleased to share with you all that Tewkesbury Academy has recently had its OFSTED inspection and has been rated as ‘Good’ for its leadership, behaviour, pupil development, sixth form provision and quality of education. This is an excellent result and we are delighted for them. Please click here to read the report files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50277946
PTFA - Thank you so much to the parent who recently stepped forward to support and join our PTFA committee. I will be in a position to update you all further after half term. If anyone else feels able to join the committee it would be much appreciated - many hands make light work! Please let me know if you are able to help.
Classes / Staffing in September:
Staffing for September has now been decided! I am delighted to let you know that Miss Thomas is staying with us for another year and will continue in Hedgehogs Class. Mrs Abell will be going on maternity during the first half term of the Autumn term. Miss Taylor is returning after her maternity leave and will teach in Rabbits Class while also being a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. This allows us to have a really smooth transition as Mrs Abell and Miss Taylor will work closely together to ensure our new reception children settle into school. So in summary, class teachers will be as follows:
Rabbits - Miss Taylor (Monday -Thursday), Miss Thomas (Friday)
Squirrels - Miss Ray (Monday - Wednesday). Mrs Wiseman (Thursday and Friday)
Foxes - Mrs Mulligan
Hedgehogs - Miss Thomas (Monday - Thursday), Mrs Leggett (Friday)
Owls - Mrs Bourton
I hope that you all have a lovely half term holiday and enjoy the weather (while it lasts!)
Miss Gladstone

We have a vacancy for a keen enthusiastic person to work in our Before and After School Club, generally after school between 3:15 and 5:15pm from September. Ideally we will need somebody to work on three or four afternoons initially although there could be more sessions available if required. Training will be given. If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to come along to an after school club session to see the job in action, please see Miss Gladstone or Mrs Bowen or email head@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk.

Our PTFA and staff have been asked to serve refreshments again for the annual Biker Night which is on 11th June this year. Many thanks. This is an excellent fundraiser for the PTFA and also supports the Midlands Air Ambulance charity.

Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status.
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.
The Government's Simpler Recycling scheme came into effect today for schools, and encourages us to separate and recycle waste into glass (washed), metal (washed), plastic (washed), paper and food waste - with food waste bins mandatory. We have made the decision to send all packed lunch box rubbish home. This already happens in many other schools and seems the easiest way to deal with mixed unwashed rubbish from lunch boxes. Children have been told to keep all of their rubbish and put it in their lunch boxes after they have eaten. We hope you will support us with this. Classrooms now have food waste bins and always have had paper and cardboard bins which we continue to use.
