Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you have all had a lovely week.
Another busy week here in school! Next week, years 2,3,4 and 5 are out on an educational visit to the Mosque and Cathedral in Gloucester. This was a great trip when we ran it last time, and the children really enjoyed themselves. Fingers crossed for a dry day. For those going on the trip, a reminder that clean socks are a must for the mosque visit and children should wear shoes that they can easily do themselves.
Disco tickets are still on sale - if you would prefer to pay by applepay or android pay instead of cash, please see Mrs Bowen before or after school any day.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.
Kind regards,
Miss Gladstone

https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/big-garden-birdwatch
There is a video on the page that tells you how you can take part. Our assembly on Monday will be all about the birdwatch so if you would like to you can tell us which birds you counted! Don't forget to submit your results on the website. I am looking forward to hearing all about it.
The PTFA are holding their Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) on Thursday 5th Feb in the school hall at 7:30pm. Please come along to the meeting to meet our committee, and learn about last year's fundraising successes and our hopes and plans for the future. You do not have to be on the committee to attend the meeting! All are welcome.
Yesterday, six children took part in a Tewkesbury and Cheltenham district swimming gala at Tewkesbury Academy. They each swam an individual race, a relay, and took part in a fun event. Five of our six reached the finals in their individual races, and as a team we reached the final of the relay. Notable performances were Henry R winning his 1 length breaststroke and our 'smallest splash' team in the fun event section. Overall we placed third out of six schools, receiving bronze medals. Well done to Alex, Henry R, Livvy D, Ethan W, Isla and Keira R.
Following last week's cancellation due to bad weather, we have now had an email confirming that our concert has been rescheduled for 27th February. This is the first Friday back after half-term.
Our tickets and parking will automatically be transferred to this date, so you don't need to do anything. I'm very pleased that this is still a Friday and can't wait to see all of you there.
If for any reason you can't make that date, then please let me know. Refunds have been offered to those who can't make it now.
Many thanks

Please remember to top up your child's ParentPay account to cover their school dinners. Your account should be in credit at all times. Many thanks.

This term (the coldest term), we do gymnastics and dance as our PE activities. Trainers and socks need to be taken off for these activities. For younger children who find this difficult, please can you practice this with them at home, rather than do it for them. If they are not able to tie laces, they should have trainers with velcro straps. In addition, girls should not wear tights under tracksuit bottoms. Thank you.
Please see the flyers at the bottom of the newsletter regarding holiday swimming crash courses that are now available to book.
Please can I remind you of the sessions being held at Tewkesbury Youth Support centre from 10-11.30am. Please see the following link for more details.

Mrs Leggett
Miss Ginn has now started her new leadership role at a school in Gloucester. She is still working with us as SENDCO for one day a week on a Tuesday until July 2026. Miss Taylor will be our new SENDCO from July 2026 when Mrs Abell returns from maternity leave . This gives us a lengthy period of training and transition, supported carefully by Miss Ginn.
We have been made aware that our uniform supplier, Gooch Clothing, are no longer able to source the navy blue school cardigan. Until we can find an alternative, we are happy for you to buy any school-style navy cardigan, getting it personalised yourself if you so wish, or leaving it plain.
PE KIT: We have noticed that some children are coming in more varied items e.g. black and/or boldly branded items for PE. Please note that the PE t-shirt should be the school logo blue shirt. The school tracksuit is perfect for cold weather. Otherwise, shorts/skort/cycling shorts/joggers should be navy and unbranded. Children may wear their school jumper or cardigan instead of the tracksuit top when cold.
Apply online for pupil premium and free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school, will still need to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You can also advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website. This document also lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. spaces.schoolspider.co.uk/uploads/605/page/40075479_page_file.pdf
