Here is this week's news:
We have now counted up the Children in Need money, from donations and the cake sale last week, and are pleased to tell you we have raised a total of £319.04! Well done to everybody - this is an amazing amount. Thank you all for your kind donations.
Thank you all for bringing in bottles and chocolates for the Christmas Fair today - these are safely stored away until the 7th Dec.
Our PTFA are in need of helpers for the Christmas fair - please can you let Mrs Bowen know if you are able to help. It could be setting up in the morning, clearing away afterwards, or helping run a stall. Mrs Bowen can be contacted on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or email the PTFA on ptfa@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk . Thank you.
Here is a little Christmas challenge for you as I know so many of you always read right to the bottom of the newsletter 🥴. If you can find the Christmas emoji hiding somewhere in this newsletter, please email me with where you have spotted him, and your child's name will go into a prize draw... good luck! Miss Gladstone.
Congratulations this week go to...

The book fair is now in School. Please come along after school on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday if you would like to browse the books and grab a few bargains! Payment can be made by cash or online by scanning a QR code with your phone. Books will be available to take away on the day (If a certain book has sold out it can be delivered to us on the last day of the fair for you). School earns credits for every book bought at the fair and we use these to buy new books for our own library. If you are unable to come but wish to buy, please ask me to give your child a wish list, where you can pay online, and I can arrange for your books to be sent home with your child. Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Bowen
If you have any Christmas jumpers/dresses/tunics that your children have outgrown, please could you consider donating them to school. The PTFA want to have a rail of pre-loved christmas clothes available for sale/donations at the Christmas Fair. Our school Christmas Dinner is on 18th December and pupils are invited to wear festive jumpers/outfits for this.
Please get involved with this fun fundraiser for our Christmas Fair if you can! There will be prizes for the the best decorated and most creative jars!
On Wednesday 4th December, Foxes and Squirrels Classes would like to show their families what they have been learning in their group recorder, samba drum and violin lessons. They will be performing a mini-concert in the hall at 2:30pm on Wednesday 4th December. Please come along from 2:15 if you are able!
Please remember to send in your 'Bentley' forms! Thank you to those of you who have already done this.

There are a lot of coughs and cold about at this time of year, as is often the case, but unless your child is really unwell (see below) we encourage you to still send them in to school. We are able to administer Calpol and antibiotics in school - forms are available from Mrs Bowen in the Office so please call in with any medication and complete one if necessary.
Please click the link below to see NHS guidelines regarding illnesses.
www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/
Please remember to report sickness/illness daily to us via School Spider or email to Mrs Bowen on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk. It is important that illness is reported to school first thing in the morning, otherwise your child's absence could be recorded as an 'unauthorised absence'. If your child is frequently absent due to illness we may ask for a doctors note as per our attendance policy.
Letters were given out la few weeks ago about swimming lessons in the spring term. These will take place on Wednesday mornings. Please send your form back if you've not already done so.
Please note that ALL school dinner accounts should be in credit at all times. If your child is in year 3 or above you will need to ensure that they have a credit balance loaded onto their account to cover their needs.
The cost of a school dinner is now £2.71.
If you believe your child may be entitled to free school meals, please look at this link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/

We are noticing that there are a few children who are coming to school with alternative drinks such as squash or juice in their water bottles. Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status. 🎄
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.
