Here is this week's news:
I hope you have all had a good week. I cannot believe we are nearly at the end of this term already!
Please remember to send in your Disco forms and £3 per child asap. If preferred, you can make payment with a card or phone - see Mrs Bowen on the playground to pay.
On Thursday we have our annual Harvest Assembly at 2pm in the hall. Children are encouraged to bring in fruit/vegetables/tins and packets of food to make up our wonderful harvest display. These items will then be sold after the assembly so please bring your cash donations! All money raised will be taken to Tewkesbury Food Bank along with any leftover tins/packets of food.
School Photo proofs were sent out last week - please place your orders by completing the slip and paying online or by cheque. Hand the slip in to Mrs Bowen as soon as possible. We are unable to take cash for these orders.
If you know anyone who might have children wishing to join our Reception Class next September, we are holding a New Reception 2027 Open Evening on Tuesday 20th October at 6:30pm in the School Hall. Please spread the word! No booking required.

The final race of the Autumn took place yesterday at the Vineyards. Yet again, we had a fantastic turnout from Twyning, with twenty-seven children taking part. Our top 20 runners this week were Isla (4th), Ada (15th), Willow (18th), Grace (20th), Lachlan (10th) and Toby (16th). I wish to say how proud we are of all of them and their amazing resilience. Well done Isla, Joe, Ivy, Evie, Bonnie, Lachlan, William B, Ada, Willow, Evelyn, Matilda, Grace, Lily, Lydia, Olivia B, Bethan, Toby, Jack N-S, Jack W, Ewan, Charlie H, Bertie, Gabriel, Xander, Sasha, Henry A-T and Robert. Next Thursday there will be a training session at school to finish the term. Cross country will resume in term 3 in preparation for the Spring races.
If you have booked but not yet paid, please can this be actioned by the end of next week. Spaces are limited so if you would like to book, please email Mrs Bowen as soon as possible on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk to book your place.
If you wish to pay for your booking online please send £35 per ticket to PTFA account 67374821 Sort code 089299 and quote the reference "wreath" and your name. Please email to let us know you have made payment this way. Many thanks.
Watch out for a notification from Mrs Leggett on Class DOJO on Monday when next term's clubs will be published.
FirstPort are the appointed residential property management company responsible for looking after the communal areas, shared grounds, and estate infrastructure for some of the new housing developments in Twyning . They have asked that we share this information regarding water safety in connection with the Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) including attenuation and balancing ponds on and around the housing estates. Please share this important information with your children and families. Many thanks.
School dinners are £2.95 each for all children from Year 3 and above, unless you qualify for free school meals (see below for details of this). School dinner accounts should always be in credit. Please make sure you have loaded money onto your children's accounts.

Next term's menus will be shared on the newsletter next week and uploaded to the website. New menus will start from 2nd November.
Please see this week's infographics. It is really interesting to see how our attendance as a school fits within the county and national statistics. At Twyning, our whole school attendance is usually above national and local authority. It is so important that, when well, children do attend school, however, we do appreciate that children need to stay home in some circumstances - please see Is my child well enough for school? for clarification.
It is fantastic to see that our figures have now increased to match the national average! Hopefully we will all keep those winter bugs away now! We look forward to seeing a continuing upward trend as the week's progress...
We are delighted to let you know that we now have a new uniform supplier (SCHOOL TRENDS). Our existing supplier (GOOCH) will be continuing as well for the next few months.
The uniform section of our website has been updated accordingly. Please follow this link to School Trends:
https://www.schooltrends.co.uk/collections/twyning-school
Please note the slight changes to the PE uniform from our new supplier.
Please let us know if there are any initial teething problems but we are now hoping that ordering should be a smooth process!
In accordance with government guidelines, school uniform should have a maximum of three branded pieces, so that parents can buy more generic items elsewhere. Our 3 branded items are:
School jumper / School cardigan
New style PE fleece
PE t-shirt
Our PTFA have kindly offered to supply a branded school bookbag to each new starter - we are very grateful for this. The white polo shorts do not need to be logo polo shirts, however the option is available on the School Trends website should you wish to buy them, but they are not compulsory.
For PE, shorts/cycling shorts/leggings should be navy not black.
Thank you all so much for your support so far with parking on these dates. It is much appreciated by the site management. There is now only one more date, as far as we are aware! These large deliveries, will require both Fleet Lane and the whole of High Street to be free from cars parked on the side of the road. We have been advised that this COULD affect school drop off and pick up times and that people should NOT park on the roadsides from 7am - 5pm.
These large deliveries are currently scheduled for:
Monday 28th September (this was brought forward to 24th Sept)
Thursday 1st October
Monday 12th October
Monday 9th November
We will update you with further information as we know it.
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You should advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website where you can download a document that lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. Click this link www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/communications/140690 and then click on the blue band "contacts and emails" to download.
For every child that is entitled to free school meals the school receives extra funding to enhance provision and improve progress and outcomes for children. So please apply even if you do not wish to take up your free school meal.
Your child might be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
Universal Credit
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.
Please note - From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, eligibility is being expanded to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household earnings.
Your child will be able to get free school meals if they are in:
Reception
Year 1
Year 2
We still ask that you apply for free school meals so that the school does not miss out on additional funding to which it is entitled.
