Here is this week's news:
Our PTFA AGM was held on Wednesday evening - thank you to those who attended. If any of our new parents are keen to join, please do get in touch.
Our Reception 2025 open evening was held last night in the school hall. If you know of anyone who was unable to attend, please let them know that we are always open for tours during the school day. Please contact Mrs Bowen in the office to arrange an appointment.
Thank you for your kind donations for Children in Need, and for donating cakes for our sale this afternoon. We will update you with how much has been raised for Children In Need as soon as we have counted up. Special well done to Henry and Poppy Anders-Turfrey who have been very busy creating posters and collecting donations for the last 2 weeks!
Congratulations this week go to...

If you have any Christmas jumpers/dresses/tunics that your children have outgrown, please could you consider donating them to school. The PTFA want to have a rail of pre-loved christmas clothes available for sale/donations at the Christmas Fair. Our school Christmas Dinner is on 18th December and pupils are invited to wear festive jumpers/outfits for this.
The book fair will be in School from next Friday 22nd November until Wednesday 27th November. Children will have the opportunity to browse the books during the school day. Please come along to the library after school on these days to buy any books you would like. Payment can be made by cash or online by scanning a QR code with your phone. Books will be available to take away on the day (If a certain book has sold out it can be delivered to us on the last day of the fair for you). If anyone is available to help Mrs Bowen after school on these days, she would really appreciate it - please get in touch. Many thanks.
The children all had their photographs taken last term, and the proofs were all sent home on Monday 4th November. Please let us know if you've not received yours. Orders must be handed in to Mrs Bowen in the office by 19th November.
Please get involved with this fun fundraiser for our Christmas Fair if you can! There will be prizes for the the best decorated and most creative jars!
Next week, I will be sending home a more detailed letter about Bentley including a consent slip for parents to complete which will allow children to stroke and handle Bentley while supervised in school. I know Bentley has rather large 'paws to fill' after Peggy's success here but I am very confident that he will be a real asset to the school as well and that the children will enjoy him visiting.
There is an increasingly vast array of jewellery and accessories coming into school! Please can I ask you to ensure that children do not wear hooped earrings, necklaces or bracelets. Nail varnish is also not permitted either. Many thanks for your support.
Please can we remind you that reply slips and deposits for the Pioneer centre residential should now be in. Thank you to those who have done this already. If you have any issues, please contact us. ParentPay is all ready set up for your installments.
This week: William R, Tom Y, Josh W, Theo K, Bertie F, Leo H, Henry W, Sam H, Leo N-S and Leighton F represented the school in the Year 5 and 6 Football Tournament held at Tewkesbury School. The team set themselves up well and started the tournament with a well-earned 0-0 draw with Ashchurch and followed this up with a brilliant 2-0 win against Mitton and a 1-0 win against Queen Margaret. We finished our final game of the tournament against Tirlebrook and we lost 2-0. We are incredibly proud of how they performed and are delighted with a 3rd placed finish amongst the small schools. Well done to the whole team!
There are a lot of coughs and cold about at this time of year, as is often the case, but unless your child is really unwell (see below) we encourage you to still send them in to school. We are able to administer Calpol and antibiotics in school - forms are available from Mrs Bowen in the Office so please call in with any medication and complete one if necessary.
Please click the link below to see NHS guidelines regarding illnesses.
www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/
Please remember to report sickness/illness daily to us via School Spider or email to Mrs Bowen on admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk. It is important that illness is reported to school first thing in the morning, otherwise your child's absence could be recorded as an 'unauthorised absence'. If your child is frequently absent due to illness we may ask for a doctors note as per our attendance policy.
Letters were given out last week regarding swimming lessons in the spring term. These will take place on Wednesday mornings.
Please note that ALL school dinner accounts should be in credit at all times. If your child is in year 3 or above you will need to ensure that they have a credit balance loaded onto their account to cover their needs.
The cost of a school dinner is now £2.71.
If you believe your child may be entitled to free school meals, please look at this link www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/
Menus for this term are now available from the school website - click to download or ask at the office for a printed copy. www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/school-lunches/106163
Many thanks.

We are noticing that there are a few children who are coming to school with alternative drinks such as squash or juice in their water bottles. Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status.
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.
Please click on these links to view our guides to contacting school. We have also linked relevant policies for reference.
Before and After School Care
Fees for our before and after school care facility are £3.50 for a morning session and £7 for an afternoon session.
Balances should be cleared by the end of each month at the latest. Many thanks. If you use government vouchers please email Mrs Tingle at bursar@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk to advise when you have made a payment, each time you do this.
How do I register my child?
To register for Before or After School Club, please complete and send in the booking form which can be downloaded from our website or ask Mrs Bowen for a printed copy. These forms should be returned to Mrs Bowen at admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk .
