Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon everyone!
On Wednesday, a small team of children represented us in the annual Wildlife Quiz. They scored really well, showed fantastic teamwork and were a credit to Twyning School. Well done Daisy A, Bonnie B, Jack W and Henry R.
This week was Science Week in school. We hope your children have enjoyed the extra activities they have been doing, and that you enjoyed looking at the displays of their 'curiosity projects' in the hall yesterday. There are some photos on Class Dojo for those who weren't able to see the display in person.
Next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we are holding our parents evenings meetings. Because of this, there will be NO Nature Club on Wednesday but the paid-for after-school childcare in the hall will still be available as usual.
Next Friday is Comic Relief Red Nose Day! There will be a cake sale after school and children are invited to wear red clothing (or the Red nose day t-shirts and own clothes) if they wish! Please pop cash donations in the collection bucket on the door if you can! If you are able to bake cakes, please bring them along on Friday morning.
Kind regards,
Miss Gladstone

Please see Mrs Bowen before or after school any day, otherwise hand your forms and cash in to the office as usual.
Please remember to top up your child's ParentPay account to cover their school dinners. Your account should be in credit at all times. Many thanks.

Yesterday, ten of our years 5 and 6 children took part in a football cup competition at Tewkesbury Academy. They played superbly, winning 2 games and drawing one in our pool. This put us top of the group to play Mitton in a semi-final. A well fought match resulted in a draw, and 3 penalties followed to decide the winner. Leo N-S, Bertie and Theo scored all 3, but the clincher was the brilliant save by Leo to win the penalties 3-2. We then met John Moore in the final, just losing 0-1. They worked so hard and our goal keepers throughout (Oliver, Bertie and Leo) had amazing games. They all absolutely deserved their silver medals. Well done to Leo N-S, Bertie, Theo, Willam R, Jack, Oliver, Zane, Jesse, Joe and Isla.
Congratulations to our 7 children who represented the Tewkesbury district in the county championships at Ashley Manor Preparatory School in Cheltenham on Sunday. The course is longer and much more challenging than the Vineyards route, with a brutally steep hill half way through. Well done to Leo H, Theo, Leo N-S, Jesse, Lachlan, Isla and Lea.
Please can I remind you of the sessions being held at Tewkesbury Youth Support centre from 10-11.30am. Please see the following link for more details.

PE KIT: We have noticed that some children are coming in more varied items e.g. black and/or boldly branded items for PE. The school tracksuit is perfect for cold weather. Otherwise, shorts/skort/cycling shorts/joggers should be navy and unbranded. Children may wear their school jumper or cardigan instead of the tracksuit top when cold.
If you wish to book your children onto a crash course this Easter, please see the above information. For other holiday sports camps see the posters below.
Apply online for pupil premium and free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled.
Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school, will still need to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
I just wanted to remind parents about the most effective ways to make contact with your child's teacher should you need to. You can also advise us if your child is off school sick/unwell on the School Spider app. This is also in the communications section of the website. This document also lists all of the emails for the teachers. We kindly ask that you do not use the private messaging system on Dojo but instead use email please. Many thanks for your support as always. spaces.schoolspider.co.uk/uploads/605/page/40075479_page_file.pdf
