Here is this week's news:
Good afternoon all! I hope you have all had a lovely week.
Biker Night on the green was a great success! Our PTFA and helpers worked their socks off serving refreshments and raised £827.29 after expenses and after making a donation to the Air Ambulance. Well done to everybody and thank you to all of you who came along and bought refreshments!
On Wednesday our Year 3 & 4 children went on their residential trip to Macaroni Wood, near Cirencester. They had an amazing time away together! Thank you to Mrs Leggett, Miss Aston, Miss Thomas and Mrs Mulligan who went with them.
Next week on Tuesday evening, we are competing in the annual Tewkesbury Primary Schools Athletics competition. Good luck to all those selected to compete - I am sure you will do us all proud! Today, Mrs Leggett and I gave out important letters to the children taking part in this which we have asked them to share with you. There are some key safety points which have been shared by the organisers.
On Wednesday there is a PTFA meeting in School at 7:30pm, to vote in the new committee. Please come along if you want to get involved or just find out what happens at meetings.
Children have been sent home with a 'Bag2School' bag today - please bring your filled bags to school on Friday morning. Many thanks.
Can I please remind parents - see below - about ensuring that any balance is paid up-to-date for Before and After School Club. We do not run this as a profit- making enterprise and the money pays for the staff wages and any new resources needed. Thanks.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Gladstone

Fees for our before and after school care facility are £3.50 for a morning session and £7 for an afternoon session.
Balances should be cleared by the end of each month at the latest. Many thanks. If you use government vouchers please email Mrs Tingle at bursar@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk to advise when you have made a payment, each time you do this.
How do I register my child?
To register for Before or After School Club, please complete and send in the booking form which can be downloaded from our website or ask Mrs Bowen for a printed copy. These forms should be returned to Mrs Bowen at admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk .
We have a vacancy for a keen enthusiastic person to work in our Before and After School Club, generally after school between 3:15 and 5:15pm from September for a couple of afternoons although there could be more sessions available if required. Training will be given. If you are interested in this opportunity, or would like to come along to an after school club session to see the job in action, please see Miss Gladstone or Mrs Bowen or email head@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk or admin@twyning.gloucs.sch.uk.
The menu for Wednesday 2nd July will be:
A - Hot Dog, chips and beans/peas
B - Veggie Hot Dog, chips and beans/peas
C - Jacket Potato with the usual fillings
Please can everyone make sure all junior school dinners accounts are in credit at all times. Many thanks.
The cost of a school dinner is now £2.85.
Don't forget, if you qualify and have registered for Pupil Premium/Free School Meals, your child will receive free school meals throughout their time here at Twyning School. See this link to check if you qualify www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/school-transport-and-free-school-meals/apply-for-free-school-meals/
The summer menu is out and is now available from the school website - click to download or ask at the office for a printed copy. www.twyningschool.co.uk/page/school-lunches/106163
Apply online for free school meals - check to see if your child is eligible using the confidential online portal available on our website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/education-and-learning/free-school-meals/
You can secure a tasty free meal for your child and save yourself up to £480 per year. Plus our school receives extra funding for each eligible child registered. If you receive a qualifying benefit, we are entitled to extra funding. So even if you don’t want your child to take a free meal, you should still apply to make sure that we receive all the government funding to which we are entitled. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 already receiving an Universal Infant Free School Meal arranged by their school will still have to apply to enable school to get any extra funding. For further information, including a list of qualifying benefits, click the link above.
Please can I remind you all that our policy is for children to drink water only as part of our healthy schools status.
Can we also remind you that we encourage the following foods as suitable snack choices at break time:
Fruit, vegetables, cheese, cereal bar, fruit bar.
We do remind children not to eat crisps and chocolate at break times where possible.
Thank you so much.
